While I am quite sure that most of the folks on my flist have probably read this one, since it was posted in 2006, I just finished it for the first time, and am just blown away by it!

It's by [livejournal.com profile] mariole, and it's called By Life or Death. It's an AU in which Strider and the hobbits encounter a LIVE troll right after they found the petrified ones.

An epic battle with the monster and some brilliant h/c, especially for Aragorn and Frodo (though others come in for their share as well), some wonderful angst, lots of love, loyalty and friendship and terrific characterizations of all five heroes (I'm blown away by her Aragorn, as I don't think I'd ever seen her write him before; I'm used to her wonderful hobbits)--well, I'm still a little breathless.

So, maybe if you are new you haven't read this; if it sounds like it might appeal, I highly recommend it! And perhaps if you vaguely remember it from the past, you might want to renew your acquaintance with it--it is certainly worth a re-read!

Inspired by [livejournal.com profile] the_mad_hobbit I am reposting a little political fic I wrote for Marigold's Challenges several years ago. There was a lot going on at the Free Fair in Michel Delving in 1427, and the election of a new mayor was only part of it...

AUTHOR: Dreamflower
RATING: G
SUMMARY: A lot of things happened in 1427.
DISCLAIMER: Middle-earth and all its peoples belong to the Tolkien Estate. I own none of them. Some of them, however, seem to own me.

THE GREAT CONVOCATION OF 1427

In 2006 I began posting a silly little crack!fic at [livejournal.com profile] wee_hobbits. I posted two parts and then got stuck. Well, the other day I got unstuck, and finished it for [livejournal.com profile] shirebound's gift folder. Here is Part 3; there is one more part and a short epilogue to go. I included links to Parts 1 and 2, since after six years, it's not likely anyone actually remembers it...

A DIFFERENT KIND OF MARY SUE (A WEE!HOBBITS AU)

Rated G.

Summary: A very unusual visitor comes to Bag End.

Over at [livejournal.com profile] great_tales they've had an informal fic exchange going. Here's the one I wrote for [livejournal.com profile] labourslamp, who requested a bit of fanon-busting. Be warned, these are not the hobbits you are used to, LOL!

Title: The First Night Out of Bree
Rating: G
Fandom: Lord of the Rings
Characters: Aragorn-Strider, Frodo, Merry, Pippin and Sam
Words: 542
Warnings: Some very cherished fanons turned on their heads.
Disclaimer: Middle-earth and all its peoples belong to Tolkien. I own none of them, though some of them own me.
Summary: Strider finds himself with four rebellious hobbits on his hands.
Author’s notes: [livejournal.com profile] labourslamp's prompt was "Bust your favorite (or least favorite) fanon."  So I set out to do that, beginning with one I know she likes to bust, and busting one of my own favorites, as well as a couple of others, plus I threw in a bit of obscure and discarded info from the History of Middle-earth which I won't identify. Have fun guessing.

I've posted a little ficlet at [livejournal.com profile] wee_hobbits:

I often dream of hobbits, but it's very, very rare that any of those dreams turn into actual stories. Mostly they don't make any sense at all when I wake up and actually think about them.

But last night I had this dream, and it worked out quite beautifully, as I dreamed of this little scene with Sam and one of his children. It needed very little embellishment to turn it into a real story.

I also had fun making a little illustration to go with it.

Rating: G
Summary: Sam and one of his children have a conversation...

Just under the wire with my [livejournal.com profile] hobbit_month post!

I apologize for the lateness of my post. Originally there were to have been two parts to it, but the second part required a lot of formatting, and I simply could not get it right. I will post it at some other time. However, I have a fic to share:

Rating: G
Summary: In Rivendell, Bilbo gets reaquainted with four young hobbits he'd never thought to see again. (Four double-drabbles-- 800 words.

The February [livejournal.com profile] lotr_community Challenges are up. Our elements were gapfillers--and mine was to do the POV of one of the Ithilien Rangers when Frodo and Sam were captured by Faramir and his Men.

Encounter in Ithilien The story is in 3 parts with an Epilogue, and the link leads to Part I. Each part has a link at the bottom to the next one.

I posted a couple of new fics yesterday. The first one was at [livejournal.com profile] wee_hobbits, and is both in honor of Mother's Day and also in honor of this month's theme, which is "teeth". It features Bilbo's mother, "the famous Belladonna Took" and wee Bilbo and her nephew Sigismond...

A Mother's Work: Belladonna

The second one was posted at [livejournal.com profile] virginia_lee. This is a story challenge community, affiliated with the Yahoo group, LOTR_Community_GFIC. The theme for this Challenge was "Aragorn's Coronation"

My story shows the morning of the coronation from a "hobbits' eye view".

“All Things Were Now Made Ready…

There were a total of seven stories, all of them interesting and fun. The other stories may be read at:

LOTR Community Challenges

The other stories are by [livejournal.com profile] blslarner, Shireling, Lily Hawkeryates, [livejournal.com profile] pearl_took1, [livejournal.com profile] golden80, and [livejournal.com profile] ceshaughnessy
