Fandom Special Snowflake meme, Day Seven

Day Seven

In your own space, create a fanwork. A drabble, a ficlet, a podfic, or an icon, art or meta or a rec list. A picspam. Something.

Here's a little drabble gapfiller, set in LotR, RotK, at some point before the chapter "Many Partings".

Persuasion

"All your news is grief to me, O Fangorn. Now I see I was mistaken in believing that Sauron could not be cast down. Yet I wished only to preserve what I could from the destruction I thought was surely to come." The Voice was sad and weary. "Now I must spend my days caged, ever cut off from the world I would have saved if I could." The Voice sighed.

The Ent blinked. " 'Saved' through destruction! But if we let you go, the keys will be left behind, as Gandalf said."

Saruman turned away from the window, smiling.

Labadal and Túrin

Here's another drabble about Labadal and Túrin. My first one is here at [livejournal.com profile] great_tales.

Labadal and Túrin: Names

It seems to one person, at least, I am Sador no longer. Túrin, the small son of my master, watches me in fascination, his grey eyes wide, as I mend and carve, and whittle. He sees me as I limp about in my workshed, and has dubbed me 'labadal', 'hopafoot'. From an adult I would take it amiss, as an insult. But he is too young to understand the hurtfulness of words. In his piping voice I hear, not scorn, but admiration, and perhaps some pity for my pain.

Labadal is not so ill a name as some might think.

Children of Húrin drabble

I've written a drabble that is not hobbits, nor even LotR! It's set in The Children of Húrin by JRRT, and posted at [livejournal.com profile] great_tales:

Labadal and Túrin: Pity

I may do several drabbles on these two. I find the relationship fascinating.
