What does this mean?

"such and such is not responding due to a long-running script"?

I get the choice of clicking "stop script" or closing the pop-up bar. It doesn't matter which I choose, it comes right back, and I can do nothing with the page, including close it. I usually have to close all tabs. Sometimes a page will work for a few minutes and sometimes it won't even load. Or the original page works but the links on the page won't.

I've been getting this on almost every page I open for the last day or two. It's a miracle this one's working.

Which browser are you using? Is it up to date, and your operating system as well? If not, first find the most recent version of your browser and OS.

Generally, clear the browser cache and delete all cookies, then close the browser and restart it. If that doesn't help, do it again and restart your computer.
If this doesn't help, try starting your browser without any add-ons, see what happens, and then reactivate one addon after the other. Trying out a different browser to see what happens can also give you hints to where to look for the problem.
Also, copy the note verbatim the next time you have it and search for it putting it in quotation marks, that usually gives you exact results for your search term. (Example: "copy your note here" )

I had something similar, but not as bad, with a new release of my browser's software, but just stopping the script in question when I was asked helped, and it was gone with the next release. Still, it has been a nuisance!

I did the first part, and it didn't work, so tried the second as you suggested, and shut down and restarted.

i think it's those stupid advertising programmers, running scripts to figure out what ad to send you next. i clued in to one a while ago, found the company responsible and sent them a nasty email telling them that if they fuck up my blog, how can i even see their damn ad? the crap stopped the next day.
