Mar. 23rd, 2016 10:14 pmThis poem is a prayer I should make on a regular basis.
Restore my soul Lord,
each and every day
establish my paths
along the way.
Rebuild my life Lord,
every morning anew
determine my course
so as I may follow you.
Repair my heart Lord,
at dawns early light
prove its intent is true
pleasing in Your sight.
Renew my mind Lord,
upon the rise of the sun
strengthen my awareness
so Your will may be done.
Refresh my spirit Lord,
as the stars slowly fade
as this is a new day
for me ~ You have made!
~~~~~~~~~
Psalm 143:8
King James Version
“Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning;
for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way
wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.”
Lent, March 20--Palm Sunday
Mar. 20th, 2016 08:39 pmPart of the liturgy from this morning's service:
Holy and Gracious God, we praise you,
for you gave us Jesus Christ,
who emptied himself and took the form of a slave,
who humbled himself and became obedient to you,
even to the point of death.
In this week as we walk with him,
may we abide not only in the triumphant entry,
but in the way of the cross,
and not only in the cross, and the grave,
but to the day of his glorious rising.
For you have exalted him who is Christ the Lord,
your son and our savior. Amen
When I left for church this morning, I was not in the best frame of mind (behind the cut, because I get a bit political) ( Read more... )
Mar. 11th, 2016 10:09 amEcclesiastes 3 (KJV)
3 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
6 A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
Lent, March 6--Fourth Sunday in Lent
Mar. 6th, 2016 04:49 pmI was off from work this Sunday. We had Communion this Sunday. I thought today I'd share the Prayer of Confession we used this morning:
Gracious and loving God,
forgive us for seeing others from only a human point of view,
with assumptions and prejudices that don't honor what you have created.
Open our eyes to see afresh
the signs of your new creation through Christ,
until we are reconciled with you, with ourselves and with others.
And here is the hymn we sang for communion:
We also had a potluck dinner after the service, which was really nice, as I have missed out due to work for a few months. (They have it on the first Sunday of the month.)
Mar. 5th, 2016 08:24 pmProverbs 4
5 Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.
6 Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.
7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
8 Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.
9 She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.
10 Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.
11 I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths.
12 When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.
13 Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.
