Stuff and such
Jun. 2nd, 2015 09:32 pmRL has been a bear over the past couple of months, but things are decidedly looking up now. The DH has a new job. The pay is less, but he's off the road, working M-F, eight hour days.
I'm cutting back to one day a week, which is also a hit to our budget, but I'll have a lot more time to do things at home, and I won't be on my feet for hours on end.
Yesterday I managed to get my challenge story done and posted. Today I was able to do a little more on my "Invasion" WIP for B2MeM.
I've also had the chance to get back into polymer clay. If I can get my camera to talk to my computer, I'll post some pics soon.
This is in addition to being able to pay some attention to the house. Also now that the incessant rain has stopped I've been able to walk Sophie again.

Date: 2015-06-03 10:45 am (UTC)I didn't know you're doing polymer clay. I loved it as a kid and was quite adept, for a 12-y-o and with just the simple varieties exisitng back then. I haven't done anything since, but plan since a while to make a head, forearms and lower legs for an Elrond doll. *g* Very ambitions project, of course, since I only have formed a person's head once, in real clay, also ages ago. But I'm going to do test runs before that (and might end up with a little group of orc dolls or so *lol* ).
I'd love to see your pics! I'm having recurrent problems with cameras talking to computers, mainly because both our cameras are by Canon, and as good as they are, the software doesn't like each other and continually causes problems. So I'm using an external card reader since ages. My first and effective one was super low-priced; 2 or 3 Euro, I think; the current one did cost about 10 Euro but has USB 3 and leaves nothing to desire.

Date: 2015-06-03 01:42 pm (UTC)The rain really *has* been non-stop, hasn't it. My yard looks like a jungle. :P

Date: 2015-06-03 03:04 pm (UTC)I LOVE working with polymer clay. I even taught some basic classes when I worked at Michaels Arts and Crafts years ago.

Date: 2015-06-03 03:07 pm (UTC)Yes it has; but the last half a week has been great. Dry, and not too hot yet.
Our yard was rather sponge-like for a while, and yes, very jungle-y. But this past weekend our son came over to help his dad, and the two of them knocked out both the front and back yard while I was at work. The yard was still rather soggy, but our son's mower worked better than ours.

Date: 2015-06-03 03:12 pm (UTC)But I think it is GREAT! It is the first time in the almost 39 years we've been married that he's had a job like that. Not just the hours, but the fact that he's only about a 5 minute drive from where he works! And he's not on call, and though it's administrative work, he's not a boss over anyone, which he hates. (He's good at being a boss, but he has never liked it.)
