I should perhaps asked about the woodfiller here, it's easier to continue the discussion... ;o)

Some brands over here are sold in small cans and others are sold in tubes; it's not very expensive. It is very pliable until it dries, and then it is really hard and durable. Brands I have used in the US are DAP and Minwax. I have no idea if they have those brands in Europe. i hope you are successful! I'd love to see pics when you are done!
The brands are unfamiliar, but most brands regarding home repair and hardware seem to be. I thought it would be something like this, and my father taught me how to create the kind of sawdust necessary and mix it with the typical wood glue we have available. I thought of this, too, but it's too liquid to be creative with, even if you mix sawdust in, and it can't be painted over. But I'll ask the next time I'm in the hardware store. This is where I miss a good craft store again, even in the next large city! We don't have that, or only on a level which usually is no use for me, as they mostly offer only stuff for the crafts currently in fashion, and the vendors aren't very knowledgeable.
Right now I'm "crafting" something else, though: the electric wires for our cat fence! *g* I've done my first trials with a special kind of construction glue yesterday to fix some of the insulators on the wall of our neighbour's garage. Thankfully his garage as well as the glue is white, as it was a messy business. But it seems to hold, at least.
