dreamflower: gandalf at bag end (Default)
Well, the first week of craft camp is over, and I have the weekend off before the second one starts. I am *soo* tired, but we're going out to Barnes & Noble tonight for our Harry Potter, so I'm going to rest this evening before we go.

The kids have been pretty good for the most part. My AM group of 5-7 year olds has been so sweet! I have one little girl in there with a broken arm, and she has needed less help with her projects than any of the other children, including her brothers. My PM group of 8-12 year olds, however, has just about driven me ding-y. A few of them are non-stop talkers--and I *do* mean *NON-STOP*! Can't really just tell them "shut up", and it's not like they are really mis-behaving, though I did have to get on to one boy for saying "butthole", and also put the brakes on the name-calling a few times.

The projects however--well, let's just say they were not necessarily well-thought out by someone at corporate level. Some of them were just too darn complicated for children, and a couple of them were not going to be dry for 24 hours. *sigh* I wish I could just have chosen my *own* projects for them to do. A few of them, though were easy enough, and all of them *look* nice when finished. My personal favorite, the dreamcatcher, I think came out gorgeous, though it took almost the whole two hours, leaving nearly no time for the second project. And the fish windsocks are just darling, even though very messy to make.

But I've been just physically exhausted when I get off. My feet are swollen, and they ache so much they burn, and I feel like I've fallen down a flight of stairs or something. Oh well, I will get to rest up this weekend, but it just confirms for me that I've made the right decision to give this job over to someone else.

I've been printing out fic to read at my lunch break, but this morning I couldn't find anything new, so I took "Smith of Wootton Major/Farmer Giles of Ham" with me. I re-read "Smith"; I had forgotten what a beautiful *rich* story that is, and I think I might try doing some drabbles or something with it. Do you suppose anyone would be interested in "Smith of Wootton Major" fanfic?

Well, this weekend I hope to work on a little bit of fic, anyway.
