A lot of people on my flist took part in [livejournal.com profile] yuletide, but for those of you who did not:

An astounding total of 2426 stories were written in 1010 different fandoms by 1620 participants.

The story I recieved was for The Hobbit

What Should Come From a Quest In which Bilbo and Gandalf have a small adventure on their way back to the Shire from the Lonely Mountain. It was a lovely story, and just what I had been hoping for.

There was also another fic for The Hobbit,
A Boon Companion In which the long friendship of Bilbo and Elrond is examined.

In addition there were several Silm fics. None, however, for CoH, though that was also on my request list.

I can't reveal the story *I* wrote, but my recipient seemed very pleased with it! I will reveal it on Jan. 1. It was a load of fun to write, even without any hobbits, and I might find myself actually writing more in that particular obscure little fandom...

Today was a lovely relaxing Christmas day. We woke up a little earlier than we planned, due to the dogs deciding they needed to go *OUT*NOW*, but that was fine.

We had our traditional steak and waffles for breakfast, and opened our presents. We had agreed to buy one big present for us both--which we wrapped and put under the tree. It's a combination CD/AM-FM/cassette/LPturntable that will also record to CD! So we will be able to transfer our favorite cassettes and LPs to CD and listen to them again! (That includes an LP of JRRT himself reading excerpts from LotR)

We had agreed to a limit for some small presents and stocking stuffers, and I more or less stuck to it for my part.

He, of course, did not. He got me several small items which together added up to quite a bit more than the limit, and included one large item that he charged (which he was sheepish about, but he knew I couldn't get too mad.) It was a beautiful jewelry chest.

But the coolest thing he did was so romantic.

http://www.bookbyyou.com/medieval/default.asp

He personalized it with our SCA names, which fits with the theme of the book, and added Sugar and Sissy. And my best friend, who, due to a typo, is named "Gladriel", which I think is just adorable.

I told him he made fanfic about *US*, LOL! He's not too sure about that.

I haven't started reading it yet, but I skimmed it. *grin* There's smut.

We may read some of the chapters together.
