Lovely gapfiller there (although now I'm going to have the Hobbitons' rendition of the poem stuck in my head all day, no thanks to you), and nice use of Tale of Years to tie everything together!

I'd actually wondered lately if Merry and Pippin would try telling Strider off for following the wrong hobbits, so I couldn't help but grin when I saw you'd thought of the same thing.

And you brought in the ivory flute! XD And Merry still not believing they were real... just you wait...

*grin* I was stuck with The Hobbiton's rendition of "Oliphaunt" in my head the whole time I was writing this. A very persistant earworm. This is not the first fic of mine partially inspired by their CD.

And yes, I do think that glad as Merry and Pippin were to see their friends, they *would* have thought he should have gone with Frodo!

Yes, poor skeptical Merry: he could swallow trolls and Elves and talking trees, but he didn't believe in oliphaunts! LOL!
