Well, I thought I'd make a post here

Seems like almost everyone's over here. I know that a lot more of my friends are here, but I'm not sure if I've got everybody that's here at DW friended in both places. This could be confusing...

Anyway, I guess I'll start posting and checking my "reading page" here more often. It seems weird not to call it a friends list.

I am having trouble getting used to that part of it too. All the new terms for basically the same services! Very different and yet, very much the same.

It's good to have you over here, even if you only stop in occasionally. I'm still looking for LJ friends on Dreamwidth too. I think some folks are under different names here and that makes it a bit harder.

Oh, if you know anyone that wants to start a journal here, I have codes to give away. Let me know.

About here as well - juSt don't use it as much as I don't have the time :) As far as the FB/Twitter thing goes - I trust my friends and LJ is set to friends comments only and locked down fairly hard. As indeed is my facebook account - something to do with my job :D

I know only five people who post on dreamwidth (and two are crossposting), so I am going to stay here if you don't mind (even if I have a dreamwidth acc, but I don't find it that great to be honest). :)

I have a lot of friends at DW, but they are also still here as is the largest part of my flist. I have an account there, but this is home and is where I'll be unless there is a major evacuation.

I've got an account over there as well... but I think for now I'll stay with LJ, unless, like has been mentioned, there's some sort of mass exodus. I really prefer the "workings" of LJ; it seems more intuitive or else I simply just know how to work it. And without a scrapbook feature working over there, I'd be a bit handcuffed.

But I'll get you added over at my dreamwidth account. My user name over there is simply "cairistiona", without the "7" (yay for getting on there before any other cairistionas did! LOL)

I'm not much of a Friend, since I almost never post, but I do read and have missed you and everybody who's moved away. I think the only person on my list who's still posting here is SurgicalSteel, and I'm very grateful she's let me stay on her list! Otherwise, the place is empty!

I'm not sure I really understand the exodus. I have noticed, though, on several politics sites I frequent, that there is a tremendous push to link all the social media sites together and I suppose this is more of the same....I expect there is some nefarious purpose behind it....

I like LJ best. But I know better than to think it will last forever, much as I would like it to. DW is an excellent back-up service. It took me only a few minutes to import every single post from LJ!

Mostly it is back-up, but since a lot of my friends have moved over there, I suppose I'll at least be reading there a little more.

LJ is what we are used to. I find the terms on DW to be a little off-putting, but the way it works is almost exactly like LJ, so that helps.

It's good to have a back-up, and I am glad I was able to import my LJ over there so my posts wouldn't be lost if LJ goes down for some reason. (Of course, DW could go down too, but I don't think both of them would at the same time unless the entire internet goes belly-up.)

I much prefer LJ. But having seen how some sites have closed down over the last few years, I feel much safer not having all my eggs in one basket. The main advantage of DW is how easy it is to back up my LJ there.

But right now, I've got a lot of friends hiding out over there because of this silly FB/Twitter thing, so at least I can keep up with them while they are there.

I plan to keep LJ as my home as long as LJ is around. But I have DW as a back-up, just in case. It's nice to know that my LJ is backed up.

Oh, I'm still on LJ! I just haven't had time for a lot of personal posts lately. But I haven't gone anywhere. In fact, I think this was only like my second or third DW post, and I've had the account for months. Mostly I just back up my LJ there. I do like that it's so easy: put in my LJ name and password, push one button, and my LJ is backed up.

Several people have moved over entirely, but I am just using it as back-up right now.

I think what chased a lot of people off is that comments to friends-locked posts were going to be enabled to be cross-posted at Facebook and Twitter. I am sure that there is a commercial reason for it-- which is why a lot of people have run to DW-- it's totally fan-run, and there are no ads or sponsors or anything.

I know a lot of people are on DW, but I don't use my account there for anything else than my stories as my LJ is flocked and not accessible to those who would want to read my stories who are not already on my flist. I wish LJ had the same cross-posting feature between journals as DW does though. I'd like to use it for my stories if nothing else.
