MANY YEARS LATER
“Merry?”
“Yes, Pippin?”
“Remember the Quest?”
“How could I forget?”
“What was the worst thing for you Merry, of all the things we went through?”
“When I thought you were dead.”
“Worse than being blind?”
“I could do without my eyes. But how could I do without my Pip?”
“mer? you hear i?”
Merry turned, startled. “Pippin! pip, you mindspeakering i!” They had not done that in years.
Pippin grinned. “to see still do it wonderded if could i?”
Merry grinned back. He had missed being able to hear Pip in his head.
“mer?”
“pip?”
“love you, my mer.”

HEART’S DESIRE
Frodo sat in the courtyard of the Citadel, looking at the White Tree in bloom. Somehow it eased his heart to see and smell the lovely tree, symbol of all that was now right in the world. He sighed. If only all were right within himself. He could never forgive himself that moment of weakness at the Fire--had it not been for that perhaps his own heart would not be torn with desire for the Thing that was destroyed.
“Frodo?” said a gentle voice.
“Arwen!”
“I just wanted to thank you, my friend. You have given me my heart’s desire.”

Well, back to work on the dress. I am *not* going to get back on the computer again until it is finished.
I'm not.
Really, I'm not...
