I'm at my sister's place, and using her laptop on dial-up. I can't get at my email, and MEFA won't recognize my password, but other than that, it seems OK.

The trip up was murder.

First of all, I had to sit in the back of her van. Without much in the way of leg room, it was really rough on my back. I will be amazed if my back does not go out while I am here.
And then of course there was my mother, who will not, of course at any time, listen to advice from my sister and me. First bathroom stop, she wet her adult diaper. Would she listen to us and put on a dry one? No, she only wanted to stuff toilet paper in it. At the nursing home, she is on a strict low-sodium, low-fat diet, so she snacks on Ritz Bits all morning, then refuses to order something halfway healthy at lunch (we were at a gas station/Subway--so she *could* have had a sandwich that was healthy) and instead bought a frozen Snicker bar. Then of course she complained about her swollen feet. And conversation with her was impossible. Even with her hearing aid she only hears what she wants to.
Once we got to my sister's house, she got very demanding of attention, wanting stuff, *NOW* thank you, and I was useless, as I didn't know where anything was; my poor sister finally snapped and let her have it, which also is useless, as Momma just gets all hurt, and says "I could have done it myself" which she doesn't really mean, or she would have in the first place.
No AC at my sister's house.
Slept in same room as my Mom. She snores--really wierd whistly snores.
But it's nice to be with my sister, and to see her house. First time I've been here--they just moved here a few months ago.
Looking forward to seeing my niece, and to the wedding. That should make the trip worthwhile.

At least I can keep up a little bit with my flist. And I'm working on another part to "Chance Encounter", although I will probably have to wait until I get home to post it.

Poor you! That sounds like a really trying trip. I still have grandparents alive and I know what it might feel like. My Grandda is a nightmare on car-rides and we have had one to many of those.

Well, today we've mostly been resting. But I think it will be fun, especially once I get to see the bride.

Sounds like a very long trip and when that you will need several days at home to recover from after. I can't wait to hear how your wedding outfit goes over. I am still in hopes of pictures later on. Maybe you and your sister will get to spend a bit of time together catching up at some point. But, at least you have internet!

I checked your details, they work here. Since everybody is a bit swamped I decided a pratical approach. At my LJ I created an entry that only you can see with the details that work. If not, my other suggestion is in there as well.

Thanks!!! I went in and made one nomination; someone else had already beat me to the other two I wanted to nominate!

We are fixing to leave to go to my sister's mother-in-law's house, and I'm told there is no internet access there, so I will probably be out of touch from now until sometime on Monday. Thank you so much for your help, you are a great liaison!!
