My out of town adventure

dreamflowerWell, I got home last night at about a quarter to nine.
After we left my sister's house to go to Atlanta (where the wedding was to take place) we stayed at my sister's mother-in-law's house, which was lovely. They put me upstairs, which was rather nice, and reminded me of when I was a girl and went to stay with my favorite aunt. (It *wasn't* so great in the middle of the night, when I had to go downstairs to go to the bathroom, LOL!)
My mother and I did not go to the actual wedding ceremony, as we are not members of my sister's religion, and they don't allow non-members in the building where the ceremony was held. But we were there for most of the photography, and the reception was lovely. My neice was a gorgeous bride, so beautiful in her wedding gown! She gave me a scrapbook she had made--just wonderful. There were not many people there that I knew--most of them were from my brother-in-law's family. But one of our cousins I had not seen in a long while was there.
My dress was a hit. My purse broke! (*sob*) My shoes were also noticed. But I am going to have to touch them up a bit, as they got somewhat scuffed from my having to constantly ride in a back seat.
My neice's biological dad had the nerve to actually show up. He was thoroughly ignored by almost everyone, and I hope he was actually as miserable as he looked. He was abusive to my sister when they were married, and then he allowed my sister's new husband to adopt my neice, not because it was the best thing for her, but just to avoid having his wages garnished for non-payment of child support.
We went back to the house where we were staying and crashed. Everyone was thoroughly exhausted. Next day it was back to my sister's house to spend the night before heading home.
The trip home was a nightmare. It is supposed to be about a six hour drive. Due to all the potty stops for everyone, it took about nine hours instead.
Physically the trip was hard on me. My back is giving me fits. But I did enjoy being with my sister and her family, and I would not have missed seeing my neice as a bride for the world. If![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)

I got some writing done (in my handy-dandy notebook) so look for updates to "Chance Encounter" soon, andlindelea1 I will also soon get my contribution to your group story. But I have to type them in first, LOL!
Also, I got several more rows knitted on the Pippin scarf. So, any PippinHealers out there, you know you need to do something with that Round Robin if you want a chance at it.
Glad to be home finally, and back at my own computer! *huge sigh of relief*
