OK, I had a CD-ROM of fonts that I used to use in my previous computer. Just an inexpensive thing, but it worked well enough. I hadn't tried it on this computer, but I did tonight, and it won't even acknowledge that I've loaded it. The reason I liked it was it had some Tolkienesque type fonts.

So I decided to download some free LotR fonts. I've tried it from several sites now, and whenever I try to download one, all I get is an IE cascade.

I really have some things I want to do in LotR-type fonts, and not have to take the time to do it in calligraphy. Any ideas what I am doing wrong? Any suggestions are welcome.

Perhaps too simple a suggestion, but are you rightclicking the links and 'saving as'?

It's worth a try if their download option isn't working - though you may end up downloading a picture of the download button. Alternatively, give me one of the links and I'll see if there is any general problem

If you click "save as," then you can direct what directory the file will download in. If you can find where all your other fonts are stored, maybe downloading to that folder will take care of the problem?

What operating system are you using?

Are you looking for calligraphy fonts or actual Tengwar/Cirth? Here's the source for my favorite Tengwar fonts, and this is what I use for Cirth. AFAIK, though, it shouldn't take more than just clicking on the download link to download the .zip properly. I've never had trouble downloading from either site on any of my computers.

I'm not sure what you're doing wrong, but I can send you by e-mail some fonts that I have. Not now, though - I am at work now, and I have those fonts on my home computer. I'll send them in the afternoon. ;)

Depending on what OS you're using, you might still be able to get the fonts off that CD. Fonts are just simple files and if you can access the CD like it was a disk drive, you could just copy the font files from the disk into your font directory. In Windows, you'd put the files into the C:\Windows\Fonts subdirectory, but I am not sure what the Mac procedure would be.
