What a day!
Nov. 16th, 2012 05:45 pmThis was a day I was going to spend finishing up both art and a story for this month's challenges, so that I could post them without being late. I was also going to post some pics I'd been meaning to post.
Well, instead we spent the day with the plumber, who took care of our washing machine (the drain was stopped and running over) and the refrigerator repairman (because water was leaking into the vegetable drawer and freezing there).
And just before the plumber arrived, as I was attempting to clean up the kitchen before he got there, my utensil drawer broke (actually it was the track to the drawer which broke.)
So the plumber was here for about an hour, and after fixing the drain informed us that the problem is roots in the line, which if we do not get taken care of, will mean that the drain will stop up again. Ball park estimate? $2,500.00. Luckily, he thinks that the fix he did today (which, thanks to our home warranty only cost $60) will hold until next spring. The kicker? We don't have any trees large enough to infiltrate our lines; it has to be one of our neighbor's trees.
Then of course, there was a flurry to get the fridge and freezer empty before the refrigerator guy got here. Stuff from the freezer at the bottom went into our chest freezer on the porch. Then ever surface and counter in the kitchen was covered with the stuff from the fridge. It didn't take him long to fix it--and it cost us $50.
Then we had to try and locate a new track for the drawer, so that the DH could try to fix it--that took most of the rest of the afternoon...
Also, has anyone else been having trouble with Photobucket? It's being all weird. When I go there a pop-up appears asking me if I want to take a "tour" of their new features. Before I can either click on it OR close it, the whole page turns kind of grey and the screen freezes.

Date: 2012-11-17 12:04 am (UTC)I was glad to hear that the repairs of the day were not too expensive. It is a bummer about the drain lines though. :-(
I haven't been to Photobucket for a while. I keep getting emails about trying their "new" site or asking how I like the "new" site, but I've not bothered with checking anything out.
Hope tomorrow is better for you and DH.
I ended up forgetting all about the story. *embarrassed blushing*
Hugs & blessings!

Date: 2012-11-17 12:43 am (UTC)I don't like the new format of Photobucket, but I haven't had that sort of problem with it.

Date: 2012-11-17 01:13 am (UTC)I just checked PB. The last two times I went there, for some reason it had logged me out. No problem with that today. There is a banner on my main album page telling about checking out new features, but no pop-up.

Date: 2012-11-17 02:08 pm (UTC)I'm unable to use Photobucket at all. I get a grey "welcome back, Shirebound!" page on which none of the links work. I can't see or find any of my albums or make anything work at all. If you get it figured out, please let me know!

Date: 2012-11-17 02:13 pm (UTC)I've been using the beta of Photobucket for about a week and haven't had any troubles with it other than the usual trying to find everything under their new format. I wonder if the grey-out is a temporary glitch?

Date: 2012-11-17 02:20 pm (UTC)Oooooh, I empathize. At the beginning of this month (11/2), I lamented the MINOR EMERGENCY text that Rampaging Frodo sent to me about the sewage backing up from the drain in the basement. Fortunately, the "hazardous waste spill" (which RF described as "sort of composted" :^D) wasn't widespread, and Mr. P was home (power was still out in NJ) so he and RF called the drain specialist who cleared out the block. He found "small roots" and uh, a big wad of dental floss. Oops. Anyway, we'll have a camera threaded through the sewer line in the spring to see what shape it is in.
All these things seem to happen at once, don't they?

Date: 2012-11-18 12:49 pm (UTC)I finally got Photobucket to work by switching over from IE to Firefox.
Well, I didn't get my story done yet, either! But you know there's always time to be late, LOL!

Date: 2012-11-18 12:51 pm (UTC)I finally solved the PB problem by switching browsers. Apparently the new version of PB doesn't like IE.

Date: 2012-11-18 12:53 pm (UTC)I'm just glad that he thinks that the immediate problem is OK until spring.

Date: 2012-11-18 12:55 pm (UTC)I ended up switching browsers from IE to Firefox, which seemed to solve it. I still don't like the "new" format though.

Date: 2012-11-18 12:57 pm (UTC)It probably will be that much--but by spring, we should have the money we need for it, though it will mean putting off some other plans we had for the house next spring.
It seems that PB doesn't like IE. I switched over to Firefox, and now it's working OK.

Date: 2012-11-18 01:03 pm (UTC)I wish that the roots in the drain were covered, but it doesn't cover "outside" stuff.
