I think you are one of the most amazing ladies in fandom. You give so much with running the GFIC Group, giving us GFIC writers a voice and are also a highly talented writer and artist.You are also a great example and friend to all who know you.

Thank you! I'm glad to know people are still reading that diary. I posted it to help others understand what the Coast went through at the time.

And also to help me to remember just what happened when; so often, years after events we forget the order things happened, or we only remember the most important parts. I want to remember it all.

I read the diary a little after I friended you, it was indeed something that helped me understand more.

For the same reasons as you stated above I have been trying to write an account of my brother's death, but I just can't. Not yet.

Your contributions to this fandom are not only enormous but have done so much to making it a more friendly, welcoming, and open place. You have given so much of yourself, even when times were hard, to enable the creative expression of others.

I admire how smart and articulate you are, and even if our research interests don't often overlap, you are definitely one of the fandom's great minds. Your nonfiction definitely raises the bar for research writing and is such an invaluable resource for people wanting to learn more about Tolkien.

And finally, but certainly not least of all, you are just a great friend. You are so warm and so kind. When I first started working with you and the other LotRGen mods on MPTT, I felt like, within just a few emails and chats, we'd known each other for years. You have a knack for making people feel welcome, comfortable, and appreciated.

I so admire your enthusiasm for all aspects of fandom, which mirrors your enthusiasm for life in general. You're one of the "givers" that the Tolkien fandom cannot survive without.

I also love that you're my closest physical "neighbor" in the fandom (even though it's still, um, about a nearly five hour drive?). Even though we've yet to meet in person, I love the idea that just down I-44 is a fellow Tolkien fan!
