dreamflower: gandalf at bag end (Default)

I had a great and busy weekend. [livejournal.com profile] coneygoil came over Friday and spent the night with us. We spent Friday afternoon on the computer, and I showed her a couple of my WIPs. After supper we watched some TV, and I knitted on the Pippin-scarf...

I got up early Sat. morning, and got her dress finished. (I love my serger!) And then we went to the event. It was called Spring Games, and was really more of an overgrown persona party than an actual event. My friend Lady E. lives in a converted drugstore, and has oodles of room, so the event was held there at her home.

Nina and I were early arrivals; only two other people were there when we got there. We had a good time with some of the games; we played Merrills (kind of an advanced tic-tac-toe) and Gluckshause (a dice game) and Knucklebones (basically jacks without a ball) to varying degrees of success. Her parents came to pick her up around 2:30,though, so she wasn't there when the action began to pick up. By 3 it seemed everyone was starting to arrive, including some folks I had not seen in what seems like *forever*! Due to his work schedule, one of our knights is hardly ever able to make meetings--I was so glad to get a chance to talk with him and Lady E. for a long time. Feast was potluck, and we were all stuffed to the gills with goodies.

Afterwards, there was more talking and schmoozing. Folks began to drift off, but I got to talking with our former Baron and Baroness about LotR. She reads fanfic, and has seen some of mine briefly. The three of us were the last to leave, finally about nine.

Sunday morning I spent reading and reviewing stories for MEFA while my husband worked on some HT. I had given him a Barnes & Noble gift card for Father's Day, so when he finally finished, we took a break and went over there. LOL! He ended up not getting anything at all; I on the other hand, came out with three books: Daily Living in the Middle Ages by Joseph and Frances Gies (this is a coffee table sized compilation of Life in a Medieval City, Life in a Medieval Castle and Life in a Medieval Village complete with some wonderful full color illustrations from period MSS.), a knitting book, and (TA-DA!) Maps of Middle-earth by Brian Sibley and John Howe!!! The maps are *GORGEOUS* but they are huge and *square* so I don't think I'm going to be able to afford to get them framed any time soon.

I didn't get to work on very much fic except for my Challenge 18 story, but hope to get back to updating "Road to Edoras" today or tomorrow. But I have to work today.

I hope everyone else had a great weekend too, and will have a good week as well! ((((hugs flist)))
