Great Day!!
Nov. 24th, 2005 09:52 pmThe DH and I had a wonderful holiday today! For the first time in 29 years (since we've been married) we had a Thanksgiving with just the two of us.
I didn't cook, as we decided to go out. Spent the morning watching the Macy's parade, and then we watched the DVD of the previous Harry Potter movie (we'd watched the other two earlier in the week)
grey_wonderer you will be pleased to know Barnhills has been rebuilt, and was open for business tonight! The floor's bare concrete still in places, and there is a new roof and ceiling, but the food's still great as ever, and plenty abundant enough to satisfy hobbits.
And then we went to see HP: Goblet of Fire! Cut for spoilers...
So glad they left the beginning out. I can't stand the Dursleys, so it was a great relief not to have to see them this time out.
Wish they'd shown more of the Quidditch at the World Cup. That whole sequence went by way too fast for me.
They *really* telegraphed the whole Mad-eye impersonation--even if I had not read the book already, I think I would have guessed anyway.
Emma Watson is gorgeous!
Fred and George rock! I loved Fred and George in this one!
And so does Neville! He was adorable in this. I liked seeing him with Harry as a change.
Moaning Myrtle was a hoot! That bath sequence was so funny--poor Harry, trying to scrape the bubbles together--*snerk*.
Special effects were great as usual.
I was a bit disappointed in Voldemort's appearance. I don't know, that "unfinished" look just wasn't menacing enough to suit me.
All in all, worth the money and time, in spite of so much cut from the books.
Basically a really great day!
