Strange day...

LJ cut for pointless rambling...
For several weeks, the DH and I had been talking about getting a new mattress set. The one we had was nearly 20 years old, after all. But as we began to look, we made two discoveries: he likes "firm" and I like "soft" (something we are just now finding out after almost 30 years) *and* mattress sets are way expensive. We started looking at the "Sleep Number" bed (the one Lindsay Wagner, the Bionic Woman, advertises) since we could each adjust our own degree of firmness with that--but I was still in sticker shock. (Don't ask me to spend more than a thousand bucks on something--I will dither over it forever before I will make up my mind.)
So while I was gone to Gulf Wars last week, the DH went ahead and ordered one. I wasn't really upset, as we *had* discussed it thoroughly, but it was an awful significant debt. We looked at the info they'd sent, and it sounded really good. Yesterday it arrived. In boxes. *Seven* huge boxes.
Last night my plan was to tape LOST and go to Bible Study. It was going to be the last night for doing "The Chronicles of Narnia".
But when the DH got home, he wanted to put the bed together. "The information said it would only take 45 minutes to put together." That was at a quarter to six. At 10:30, we finally got the last of it finished. We had not had supper, so we went out to eat--only place open that time of night was IHOP. A plateful of cinnamon pancakes for supper at nearly midnight...not a good idea.
Then we came home to go to sleep in our new bed. I tried to set my "sleep number", but I didn't quite have it figured out, and I ended up setting it at "5". That's like the lowest you can go. I think the bed tried to eat me, LOL!
In spite of that I didn't sleep badly. This new bed just might help my insomnia.
Which brings up a whole 'nother problem. If I can't be awake at 3AM, how will I be able to write fic? That's when I get my best ideas!
This is going to take some getting used to. *sigh*
