Well, that was quick and easy. The line had less than a dozen people in it--the advantages of a small town, I guess. The entire population here is only about 7,000, and probably less than half that number are registered voters. And there are 10 precincts. Still, I've never stood in a line that short to vote in my life.
The presidential vote was the most important one, of course. I still wish I could have found out a little more about the local and state candidates, but I am comfortable enough with my choices. There were three totally unpublicized state issues on the ballot that caught me by surprise, but they were clear enough for me to be able to make a decision.
We've had a barrage of ads over the last few weeks, but most of them have been very short on substance. And I swear, over the weekend, every ten minutes we had a phone call from some candidate or another. Our answering maching was crammed with calls asking for our votes.
Now that the voting for president is over, I will turn more attention to the *IMPORTANT* voting! The MEFAs! The Middle-Earth Fanfic Awards are review-based: your votes consist of reviews for the nominated stories, and your vote can be worth up to 10 points, depending on how long it is.
There are 26 days left! And unlike most voting, you may vote as often as you like for as many as you like! If you want to and have the time, you could vote for *everybody*! LOL! (Not that I reccommend that.)
Seriously, if you are a member, it would be a good time to turn your attention to reviewing. And if you are not, there is still time to join up and post a few reviews for your favorite stories!
