Hello, all.
Dec. 11th, 2005 09:27 pmI'm surfacing finally after a weekend of being sick. I slept almost all day yesterday and today, finally beginning to feel human again this afternoon...(cut for TMI)
For some reason I had a horrible case of the trots all day yesterday and most of today. Even Lomotil didn't seem to help much, besides flat knocking me out. Not only could I not stay out of the bathroom, but I kept having these nasty-tasting belches as well. I don't know if it was a bug I'd picked up, or something I ate that didn't agree with me, but I am grateful that it seems to be past now.
My DH was a real sweetie-pie, cleaning house this weekend so we can finally get the rest of our Christmas decorations up. And *work* has finally started on the house! My sewing/craft room was first on the agenda--they cut out and removed the moldy sheetrock, and they placed a concrete footing around the perimeter of the room. It's actually possible that my flooding problem in that room may now be solved. They also poured the footing and laid the bottom part to rebuild our back porch. It's actually going to be more of a sunroom than a porch now.
The dogs were a mess. They do not *like* having strange people in and around their house, making scary noises. I dread tomorrow. DH will be at work, the workmen will be here, and I'll have to handle two neurotic dogs on my own.
I hope to get some things done tomorrow that I didn't feel like working on over the weekend. Let's hope I'm over the whatever-it-was.

Date: 2005-12-12 05:04 am (UTC)I'm glad your better. Have you tried Immodium? It always does the trick for me, although sometimes I have to take a few doses. Make sure you drink plenty of fluids to keep from being dehydrated.
Excellent that you will soon have your sewing/craft room done! That'll be a big improvement for you.
Keep feeling better!

Yay! for the work starting and for maybe solving your flooding problem. :D Wouldn't that just be wonderful if you didn¨t have to move your things out each time it threatens to flood?
I suppose it doesn't help putting the dogs in a locked up room or kept outside? Maybe if they can watch the work? I don¨t know, just tossint my two cents in here.
((((((((((big, big hugs))))))))))))
Btw, now that you have a paid account you need some icons, will see if I can work on that for you this week... ;) I don't excell at it but it is fun with what limited resources I have. Anything you'd want in particular?

Date: 2005-12-12 01:25 pm (UTC)I have the same problem with one of our dogs. She goes absolutely nuts when someone new, especially male, comes into the house. It is almost comical to watch an 11-pound dog growling and snapping at a 150-pound human, except I fear for the human's safety. I really think she'd like a bit of "fresh meat".
Take care and hope you feel all better.

Date: 2005-12-12 03:36 pm (UTC)It would indeed be lovely not to have to worry every time it rains!
We always put the dogs in a room with the child gate up when we have folks in normally, but this time we can't put them in *that* room (which they are used to) because the workmen are in that end of the house, and need to go in it. We decided to put them in our bedroom this time, but we had to take the buffalo hide off the bed first, because they seem to think it is a giant fuzzy chew toy.
Ooooh, I'd *love* some nice hobbity icons! and I'd like one with maybe a picture of my Bag End model that I posted, especially! I'm planning on grabbing all the Marigold Challenge ones I'm entitled to, as well, as soon as I can figure out how...

Date: 2005-12-12 03:42 pm (UTC)Well, our dogs are 65 and 58 pounds respectively, so we do our best to keep them away from anyone who comes to the house. The only person they like besides my husband and me is my sister-in-law (she was living with us when they were puppies) As far as they are concerned *anyone* else is "fresh meat". *sigh*

Date: 2005-12-12 09:09 pm (UTC)Glad to hear things are happening with the house, that's great! Especially that you might get the flooding problem solved! And putting the decorations up always helps make the place feel cheerful even when you have lots of work going on :)
