Need a bit of help with some Sindarin for a fic...

I'm hoping someone can help me translate a rather silly phrase from English to Sindarin; also I need some numbers translated. I'm putting the phrase behind the cut:

The phrase is "...apple pies cooling on the sill;
snatch one down to eat our fill.
Pass it around; no need to fight--
Everybody has a bite!"

And I need to know the following numbers: ninety-seven, eighty-four, sixty-one, and twenty-eight.

Yes, I know. Very silly. But I hope someone can indulge me, as a bunny has latched on to my ankle, and protestations that "I don't know Elvish!" are having no effect...

I don't know anything about Sindarin but if no one else here can answer you should send in a request for help to middleearthnews. There's got to be some sort of Elf-types over there who would know :D

Not terribly knowledgeable about Sindarin, I'm sorry to say - although boz4pm might be of more help, or at least might be able to point you to someone who'd know. She's pretty fanatical about details and seems to have Contacts. :D

If you're a member of HASA, have you tried posting your request in the "Languages of Arda" resources discussion thread? (Or, at least, I think that's what it's callled.) There are a number of people there who seem to have a pretty good grasp of Sindarin, and are usually willing to help.

A great resource might be nilmandra007, who runs the Stories of Arda archive and seems to be an inexhaustible Elf-resource. Good luck!

I think this is all correct, but like I said I'm pretty new at this... Maybe somebody with more knowledge could do better for ya, but... *shrugs* Hope it is helpful anyway.

The numbers... I don't know how to make numbers like that in Sindarin, and I'm not sure if anybody does... but here's a totally unsupported guess...

97 Neder na gaer ah odog
84 Toloth na gaer a canad
61 Eneg na gaer a min
28 Tâd na gaer a toloth

(the first is "nine of tens and seven" and the rest follow that same form... might at least be comprehensible, even if not correct!)

Yaay! You are the only one to come up with something, and it sounds plausible, for the verse. I have one other venue to check for the numbers, but I think I have a go here--enough to satisfy my bunny, anyway! Thanks heaps, and I'll give you a heads-up when I post the fic.
