A little drabble and a half for our two byrdings!
Happy Birthday Bilbo and Frodo!
“Good morning, byrding!” Bilbo entered Frodo’s room and drew aside the curtains.
Frodo hid his face under the pillow with a moan, turning away from the sudden light, but then abruptly sat up.
“Byrding! It’s our birthday! Our first one since I came to live here! Uncle Bilbo! It’s your turn to open your present first!”
“So it is, lad! You opened yours first last year. But please let us wait until breakfast! We’ve much to do today—our guests will begin arriving after luncheon!”
Frodo followed his nose to the kitchen, where a festive breakfast awaited. He placed a package by his uncle’s plate, and noticed one by his own. Odd, that. They were the same size…
After they ate, Frodo watched anxiously as Bilbo opened his: a leather-bound journal. Bilbo burst out laughing, to Frodo’s puzzlement.
Frodo discovered why when he opened his own: an identical leather-bound journal!
