What a busy weekend I've had! We had to go back to Tulsa on Saturday to pick up an owner manual for the new car. We left really early, and I took my Braum's gift card with me so we could have breakfast out. We found the dealer and picked up the manual, and then found a Tulsa Braum's. Believe it or not, having worked at one for two years, but never had breakfast at one! I had a chicken biscuit-- very good, though just a tad too spicy for my taste. But those sorts of things almost always are.

On the way home, we stopped at a yarn store. I found some grey yarn to start a new Pippin scarf with, though it is still a little too dark. But I have had a dreadful time finding the right shade of grey. Oh, and [livejournal.com profile] shirebound, I also bought some beautiful multi-colored yarn, which I will be using to make your Pippin's sweater! I think she will be so cute in it, and it's very soft!

Then after we got home I had to go grocery shopping, which took way longer than I thought it would. (It always does, I don't know why I can't learn that!) Homemade veggie soup and cornbread for supper!

My co-mods and I were supposed to IM last night to finish the assignments for [livejournal.com profile] lotr_community's Yule fic exchange, but technology was evol, and we were cut off in the middle. So [livejournal.com profile] ceshaughnessy finished up on her own and got out the assignments. I'm very excited about my assignment! Thank you, Cathleen!

Today was also very busy-- being first Sunday, it's potluck lunch at church, and I'm in charge, so I had to get there early. Almost went off and left my dish at home. I made "sunshine salad" (lemon Jello with grated carrots, golden raisins and diced peaches stirred in-- hadn't made that one in years!) I forgot that there was to be a meeting after the potluck, so I didn't get away from the church until 3 o'clock! Fortunately I had several volunteers who stayed to help with clean-up in spite of the hour.

The DH and I spent the rest of the afternoon working on the floor in my sewing room. The carpet is all out except in one place where we need to move a bookshelf. Most of the tack strips are up, and the DH worked on pulling staples and sanding while I worked on putting stuff back in the places where we'd finished. It's about half done. The hardwood is not in as good a shape in that room as in our bedroom, but I think it will be all right. We are hoping that once our finances get straightened out, we can pay someone to come in and do a proper refinishing job, but in the meanwhile it's much better than the funky old carpet.

Speaking of finances, I have to say I'm still a bit worried. We thought the DH would be started to work by now, but there seems to be a delay in his security check. (Silly, because he just had one last month when he had his nursing license renewed!) So keep your fingers crossed still that this last hurdle will get taken care of and he can start his new job ASAP!
