Well, I've not had any time online since the wee hours of the AM. We had a teacher preview today (the first one since the hurricane) and it took me all morning to get my stuff ready. It was kind of neat just being "me"--a teacher--and not have to worry about the calendar or setting up tables or anything. It was the first time I'd seen some of the other teachers since July, so basically I got paid to sit around for three hours and do calligraphy and talk to my friends. *grin*
And then this evening, the DH and I went out to eat. One of the docs from his unit gave us a $100 gift certificate for Mary Mahoney's Old French Restaurant--one of the few back in business now. He had stuffed lobster and I had prime rib. It was lovely. We had not been there since the first year we were married!
Anyway, now I'm going to check for the Challenge 25! I'm eager to see the fics up there!

Date: 2006-02-05 09:44 pm (UTC)The restaurant got quite a bit of damage to the south facade that has yet to be fixed, but the west facade has been fixed up and newly painted. Inside, about three feet off the floor is a painted line, and a sign that says "This is how high the water level was after Hurricane Camille." Then, above a door lintel is another line, and a sign that says "This is how high the water level was after Hurricane Katrina." But aside from the paint looking all new, the place is completely fixed up inside, and as elegant as ever!
