That LJ Meme:

How did you come to start your LJ? [livejournal.com profile] marigoldg was visiting with me in RL, and she talked me into it. She set it up for me and everything. I met her through her Challenges ( [livejournal.com profile] talechallenges), and was already somewhat familiar with LJ from commenting on the stories. She convinced me it would be good to have my own account.

How did you find your first friends?
Again, credit goes to [livejournal.com profile] marigoldg, because when she set it up, she gave me several "friends" to start off with— hobbity people who liked the same sorts of fics that we both did.

Are those first friends still on your FL?
The vast majority of them are. I've never done much cutting, and keep telling myself that I should, as some of the people on my flist are not active anymore…but I never seem to get around to it, LOL!

How long have you been on LJ?
Since September 2004

What do you look for in an LJ friend?
Friendliness. I will usually friend anyone who friends me. And a common interest to begin with. Some of my friends have moved on to other fandoms, but I've known them long enough now that I still think of them as friends.

What do you dislike?
Sometimes LJ goes down, or gets really slow and weird. Or does odd things like messing up my layout…

What would make you un-friend someone immediately?
Hmm…it would have to be something REALLY dire! I can't imagine—I guess if they flamed me and slandered me or something like that. But I've never had anything like that happen to me.

I have unfriended a few communities-- there were a couple that sort of took over my friends page and sort of went crazy.

Have you been caught up in a lot of LJ drama?
Not personally, though I've been around the edges of it when my friends have been and I've had to provide them with a bit of moral support.

Do RL friends and family members know you have a journal on LJ?
Oh good heavens, yes! I've even tried to suck them into it in the past. But I've never seen any reason to make a secret of my LJ! I'm quite open and "out there" with it.

Do you also have Facebook and if so, what do you prefer – LJ or FB?
Ugh! I do have a Facebook page, but I've made little use of it. I am so used to LJ that Facebook doesn't seem very user friendly to me. And it has all this silly stuff that I just don't get! I suppose that I should figure it out and try to use it since I have it, and more of my RL friends and family are on Facebook than LJ…

But as long as LJ is around, I will stick with it.

What about Twitter?
Nope. Don't Twitter or Tweet. I'm too long-winded for it.

Do you blog on any other sites?
Not really. I have a Dreamwidth account, which I mainly use as a back-up for my LJ.

How often do you check in on LJ?
Several times a day, most days. On days I'm really busy, I at least check my flist in the morning and before bedtime, but most days I check in several times.

What do you rarely or never post about?
I don't make a whole lot of personal posts, and when I do, it's usually about my house or garden or cooking. Every now and then I have other concerns, and may make a filtered post to my closest friends. And I made a lot more personal posts a few years ago than I do now. I had more going on in my life, LOL!

Have you ever thought about deleting your journal?
NEVER! And I have nightmares about it getting accidentally deleted.

Have you ever changed your username?
No

Why did you choose your current username?
It's the Author name I'd been using to post my fanfic at an archive. It's actually a translation of "Lothlorien". I had to add the "02" because plain Dreamflower was already taken.

If you’re looking for new friends, how do you find them?
Generally if someone posts fic I like, I will usually friend them. Or if they comment a lot on my own posts, or I meet them in an LJ comm.

Are you taking new people on to your Friends List just now?
Oh sure. The more the merrier.

Finally, tell us the reasons why you keep an online journal.
Mostly for the fanfic, but also to socialize. After all of the love and support I received from my flist after Hurricane Katrina I came to realize that the people I knew here really were friends.

Since then, I have come to meet several of the people on my flist in RL, and it's been a blast. I would love to meet more of them.
