Trading Spaces

Just after lunch the DH and I went out "just for a few minutes" to go to Lowes, and ending up out all afternoon, finally having supper at O'Charley's. But I'm glad we got home when we did--I don't want to miss "Trading Spaces" tonight: it's an episode fimed down here, where two families whose homes were gutted by Katrina are trading rooms in the homes that are being restored...so, I'm off to watch it in just a few minutes.

EEep! Even though I prefer the UK version, Changing Rooms, I would have loved to have seen that! Grrr!

It was very touching. As Laurie and Edward drove along Highway 90, they passed several places I've posted "after" pictures of--Treasure Bay Casino, Landry's Seafood House, First Baptist Church in Gulfport...

One couple was restoring their own home, which had had 6 and a half feet of water. The others had bought a "new" home, which had also badly flooded--but their original house was nothing but a bare slab. All that was left was a miraculously unbroken mirror, and some pieces of the granite counters from their kitchen. Laurie used those in the new rooms.

They were allowed $5,000 instead of the usual one, and were able to really do a lot for both couples.
