It has been very moving to see the outpouring of caring from so many people about the loss of one of the fandom's well-known writers. Many of the condolences came from people who have never read his work, but only know of what others said to him.

If anyone would like to read his work who never has before, you could do worse than start with his "Elf Academy" series:

You are welcome! I do hope you enjoy "Elf Academy" as much as I have; it starts out in the beginning like a bit of crack humor, but soon evolves into something much more intriguing!

I have to go on further then; so far it wasn't really to my taste. But then, I generally don't really care for modern AU in Tolkien fic, or any modern setting. I sometimes read it because the idea of elves living on until our time is something that fascinates me, but most of the fics I found with this put me off for some reason or other.

Well, you might find some of his other work more to your taste. The EA series is his most popular work, but he has many other stories, most of them set in the First Age, as well as a few set in the Second or Third Age. He even has a couple set before Arda's creation.

Normally, I'm not much for modern day stories myself, but Fiondil is one of two authors whose stories in that setting I enjoy. Jael is the other. They have very different ideas, but are both intriguing to me.

I hope you like it. He doesn't write about hobbits very often, but he really made me appreciate Elves and the Valar more.
