Countdown meme, day 3
Feb. 2nd, 2015 08:47 amI decided to wait until the next day to strike out the line. Apparently I confused a few people. ;-)
Day 1 - Ten random facts about yourself
Day 2 - Nine things you do everyday
Day 3 - Eight things that annoy you
Day 4 - Seven fears/phobias
Day 5 - Six songs that you’re addicted to
Day 6 - Five things you can’t live without
Day 7 - Four memories you won’t forget
Day 8 - Three words you can’t go a day without
Day 9 - Two things you wish you could do
Day 10 - One person you can trust
8 things that annoy:
1. Political blowhards on TV. I give myself permission to be as rude and as loud as I like to the TV set. If I ever meet them in person I hope I can be more rational, but still let them know what I think of their bloviating.
2. TV commercials that try to convince people they will save money by spending it, and other absurdities.
3. Tailgaters, people who pass when I'm going the speed limit, people who cut in front of me and other sorts of road hogs.
4. People with no patience, who think they are too special to wait their turn.
5. Bad customer service.
6. People who are always on their phones in public, broadcasting their personal business to the world at large, and who can't turn them off and make eye contact when they should be talking to someone in person.
7. Telemarketers. And creditors who will call when you aren't even late about your bill. Also who charge you to pay them. (A fee if you pay online; another fee if you pay by phone! And then if you end up mailing it to avoid the fee, a late fee.)
8. Wind. The kind that leaves your hair standing on end, and rips the car door out of your hand.
9. Itching

Date: 2015-02-02 05:49 pm (UTC)Conversely, I also have a serious dislike of those going 20 mph lower than the posted speed limit when the roads are clear, dry and perfect. They are an accident waiting to happen and if they can't drive close to the speed limit, then they should stick to the side streets. Dangerous!
I've kicked people out of the store for talking too loudly on their phones. We're a small store and we're really uninterested in your conversation. Most people just take it outside if they need to have a discussion, but there are those few...
Telemarketers - there's a special circle of Hell reserved for them. Some are people who are trying to make a living and they're find when you say "no". But I've had some phone me right back when I hang up on them to complain that I hung up on them. Really? Watch - I'm going to do it again!
I've had that kind of wind when I lived in Colorado and it can be cruel.

Date: 2015-02-03 12:11 am (UTC)Years ago, when cell phones were the size of bricks, not nearly as many people carried them around yakking all the time, but some people did. A friend and I were in Walmart shopping, and we could hear some lady from two aisles over gossiping up a storm about So-and-So and saying some really rude things. When my friend and I came back up the aisle she was still on (apparently she couldn't talk and walk at the same time) she was still at it.
As we passed her my friend stopped and said "I think you should know So-and-So is a friend of mine and none of that is true."
The woman said to the phone "I have to go now!" Her face was as red as a beet, and she rushed away without saying anything to us.
I said, "I didn't know you knew So-and-So."
She grinned and said: "I don't. But wasn't the look on her face priceless!"
We laughed like loons over that.
