What do we pay taxes for?
Dec. 26th, 2004 09:35 pmThis afternoon, my DH and I went out for lunch at a fast food place. I had gotten him a remote control car for Christmas, so we decided to go to a local sports park afterward, so he could play with it.
One entrance was locked, so we went around to the other one, and it was open. We went in, and he spent about half and hour playing with his car, while I worked on a fic in my notebook. I had to use the bathroom, but they were locked. So we decided to go on home. When we got ready to leave, the entrance we had come through was *locked*. We had to call the police to come let us out. When the cop arrived, he had to call someone to find out the combination for the lock. I was nearly desperate by the time we got out--I take a diuretic for HBP, so you can imagine! We spent an hour waiting to get out--longer than we were actually AT the park!!
Now, I realize that this park was mainly built for the kids to play soccer and baseball, but *NOWHERE* is there any sign saying that it was closed, or that the general public is not welcome!! I mean, we pay taxes, too, and just because we don't have kids who play sports, we can't use this park?!?! I ask you?
Is that ridiculous or what?

Date: 2004-12-27 01:08 am (UTC)The local park here is locked at night, although I think its for security reasons. Probably to stop people hanging around after dark and attacking people.

Date: 2004-12-27 08:23 am (UTC)There are no signs whatsoever about what days and hours it is supposed to be open! And no, no public phone, luckily my DH had his cell phone since he's on call 24/7.
