Lent 2015: Maundy Thursday

Maundy Thursday, also known as Holy Thursday commemorates the Last Supper and the events afterwards. Our church usually has a service on Maundy Thursday, but is not having one this year.

Luke Chapter 22:

19 And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake [it], and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.
20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup [is] the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.

I was at our service last night. We eat a meal together, with prayers and readings before we start and between the main course and the sweet, and finish with the blessing of bread and wine then passed from one to another of us around the tables.

In previous years, our church has put on a re-enactment of the Last Supper, followed by communion. But this year, most of the members who had participated in the re-enactment were unable to for one reason or another. I really missed having it.

But I will be attending tonight's Good Friday service this evening.
