I got quite a lot done today!
Jun. 4th, 2015 09:57 pmI was busy today: walked the dog, worked with my polymer clay (SUCCESS with my hobbit door cane, although it is not quite as pretty as I hoped, it WORKED!), cleaned house, did laundry, got some written on my next chapter of "Invasion" and made the
read_lotr_aloud announcement for June, and made out the prompt letters for the June
lotr_community challenge (though I won't be actually sending them till tomorrow, as I need to match people up with the prompts).
I also harvested the last of my lettuce. Most of it had bolted, but I had some growing underneath the larger ones that had yet to go bitter. So we had the last of our garden lettuce, and our last radish in our salads tonight. I made spaghetti for supper, and it was really good, if I do say so myself.
The DH and I have been watching TH the last few evenings; we started TH:DoS last night, and continued it tonight, after we watched the first episode of HGTV's "Brother vs Brother" that I recorded last night. But we left off right as Bilbo was trying to evade Smaug. We were interrupted by Miss Sophie, who had to go out. Unfortunately she encountered a rather large cat in our yard and went ballistic. She chased him over the fence, but then would not come in. It took us a good thirty minutes of calling her and chasing her around in the dark to get her to finally come in. (I finally had the bright idea of luring her in with her squeaky toy!) She'd actually engaged with the stranger-cat, but came away with only a very tiny scratch next to her nose. She was immensely proud of herself for guarding us from the trespasser!
I am really enjoying our new schedule, although the DH got a call from another place he applied before. The pay's higher and benefits. But if he takes it, he'll be on the road again. *sigh* And the thing is, he LIKES what he's doing now.
Oh well, as I have always told him on job decisions: I'll tell him how I feel, but the decision's up to him, since he is the one who actually has to do the work.

Date: 2015-06-05 01:33 pm (UTC)I keep Domino on a leash so that he doesn't go haring off into the woods after a squirrel or, more likely, a deer. He does *not* like deer. He'd be gone so fast even a squeak from his toy wouldn't bring him back, and I don't fancy having to trek like a Ranger through the Wilds to get him back again! Plus, and this is still so hard to get my mind around, there are now both black bears AND the occasional mountain lion spotted in adjacent counties... so I'm having to adjust my attitude toward these formerly cozy woods whose dangers had been no worse than ticks, chiggers and copperheads (the latter which fortunately I've yet to encounter even after nearly 20 years here). I welcome the increase in wildlife, but it does mean changing a few behaviors to adapt to them.

And last night that
huge mountain lionkitty just got her back up and she forgot about everything else!BTW: I just saw a video on the news showing a pit bull chasing this big black bear out of his yard. The bear was running off like the dog wasn't a fourth his size, LOL!
