Yesterday was the twelfth, so time for [livejournal.com profile] monthlydiaryday! This is cross-posted from my entry there, since the comm is locked.

7:30AM--Woke up, fed the cat and dog, made breakfast for the DH and myself. Watched a bit of news while we ate. I was feeling pretty draggy; we spent the day yesterday rearranging furniture, and then I lay awake far too late last night reading an interesting Harry Potter fanfic. I had to work, so after I finished eating, I got dressed for work, and then sat in my chair and napped until I had to get up and go.

10AM--The DH took me to work. Just one co-worker today, and she's pregnant, so there's lots of stuff she can't do physically right now. The night crew apparently did nothing they were supposed to before closing. Neither of the restrooms had been cleaned, and in the supply closet they'd left a mess: a full trash can that doesn't even belong in there, and a bucket FULL of DIRTY MOP WATER!!! One of my pet peeves is people who leave dirty mop water sitting around. Plus the walk-in (the big refrigerated room behind the milk case) was a mess, and the milk case had not been filled either. I waited on customers until J. got back from her break, and then I tackled the supply closet and the restrooms (but not before I got one of the managers to come and look at them--they can pass the info on to whoever's in charge of the night bunch). It took me almost till noon to finish that up, and then I went back to the walk-in, stocked the milk case, put three dollies of empty milk crates (36, in case you wonder) out of the walk-in, and into the stockroom to be taken out later (the back door is not allowed to be open between 11AM to 1:30PM. I straightened things up and generally organized the mess. (Saturday had been a truck day, and the driver had just stuffed things in. I'd been told when I first arrived that our ice cream had not been delivered because it melted on the truck. They sent a truck by earlier Sunday morning with just a bunker of ice cream to partly make up for it.) So once I got everyone's mess cleaned up I worked on stocking the ice cream. I managed to put away about a third of it before it was about time to clock out.

2PM--I clocked out and picked up a few groceries we needed. We had some nice sirloins, so I picked up one (big enough for two when divided) for supper. The DH took me home, and I made a sandwich for my lunch. I needed to start reloading stuff into my desk, but I was too tired, so I sat in my chair and went to sleep again.

4PM--Woke up and did a few small things, helped the DH strip and change our bed, folded some laundry, and put just a few things away that we'd moved the day before.

5:30PM--Made supper; steak, baked potatoes and salad. The tomatoes, cucumbers and onions for the salads came from the garden, and so did the chives for the baked potatoes. We watched the news while we ate, and then we turned on the DVR, because we'd recorded the "kitten baseball" game on Hallmark:

It was perfect to watch, because both of us were tired, and cute kittens are very relaxing. And they must have done a ton of editing, because they actually made it seem like the kittens were actually playing--we figured out how they were getting them to run the bases; there were little lights under the base lines, and the kittens would chase them, LOL!

9:30--The DH gave up and went to bed. I turned the kittens off, so we can watch more another time, and went to wash the dishes. I was in bed before 10, but did not turn off the light to go to sleep until almost midnight; I was reading the sequel to that fic I read the night before...

That's a full day. I used to put away groceries and freezer supplies on delivery days when I worked as a cook in the small senior assisted living home that was my last job before I retired. The other cook had never organized anything on the shelves and it took me months to get everything put in order so you could find what you needed without a search. I had to do it an hour at a time, when I wasn't cooking or cleaning up from meals. It's a huge job, and there's a lot of heavy stuff to move around.

Those kitties are so funny to watch. The editing is great too.
