Spoiler free review:

Saw it today, and was quite pleased with it! It was terrific--a nice blend of tribute to the original plus plenty of new to intrigue. It felt fresh, and yet was clearly the universe that George Lucas had created so long ago.

I was spoiled for one plot element, but I didn't mind, as it was something I was glad to be prepared for.

The only thing was where we were sitting--a bit closer than the DH and I usually sit, as we went with our son and two of his stepkids. We were awfully close to a speaker, so it was really loud.

Will probably write something longer and more spoilery tomorrow.

I enjoyed it. The only bad bit was a man sitting across from us playing with his cell phone all through the first hour of it. The light from his phone screen kept messing with me. Some people are too rude to be allowed out in public.

I saw it yesterday too. Enjoyed it and very much enjoyed the ending.

The universe felt more "real" than in the prequals, which relied far too heavily on CGI in my opinion.

Good to hear you both liked it. :-) Hubby and I are hoping to see it over the holiday.

I enjoyed it immensely... and oddly opposite your experience, for us the sound was actually a little too quiet. I had a heckuva time trying to make out the names of new characters.

But it was wonderful nonetheless.
