More spring garden pics
Mar. 7th, 2016 02:44 pmI decided to take these pictures today, since our Capitol pear is in full bloom. The sky is overcast, and even though the temp is in the low 60s, the wind is awful, and between the humidity and the wind chill, it feels like 40s.

This is the little tiny garden bed at the corner between the sidewalk and the driveway. As you can see, the hyacinths are in bloom, the tulips are coming up, as are the chrysanthemums. The little johnny-jump-ups on the lefthand side I bought at the nursery a couple of days ago.
My butterfly stepping stone needs to be washed off.

Another angle of the same bed. The angel is a solar light, and looks very pretty at night.

Date: 2016-03-08 03:51 am (UTC)About johnny-jump-ups, here are words to a cute song my little sister brought home from school long ago:
When Johnny Jump-Up went to school,
To jump up was against the rule.
The Teacher with a weary frown,
Said, “Johnny, Johnny Jump-Up, SIT DOWN.”
So Johnny grew up very tall
And never changed his ways at all.
His friends said, “Don’t be such a clown,
Johnny, Johnny Jump-Up, SIT DOWN.”
His mother, father, sister too and even Uncle Pete.
Could never find out what to do to keep him in his seat.
So one fine day, he jumped so high,
He bumped his head against the sky.
And when he tumbled back to town,
Johnny, Johnny Jump Up, SAT DOWN.
(I found these lyrics on the internet, so they may be a bit different from the original. Gives you the idea, anyway, especially with kindergarteners jumping UP and sitting DOWN!)

Date: 2016-03-07 11:14 pm (UTC)It was cool and windy today, too, but I don't think wind chills were as bad as yours. Dink and I went to the zoo and I wore a t-shirt; I was cool but not cold. But it wasn't as warm as I'd thought it was going to be, that's certain!
