Front yard pics
Jun. 21st, 2016 12:00 pmOK, I posted some garden picspam from the backyard the other day. So, here's some new pics of what we've done in the front.
First up: my little "hobbit garden"

Rest of pics behind cut:
This is the little polymer Bag End I made. I sprayed it with an outdoor acrylic sealer.

Here's a little closer view:
It's planted with thyme, lobelia and stone crop. The tree was one I made several years ago for a model of Bag End, as is the little bird bath. (The model got broken in our move from Mississippi, but I saved it, and often scrounge elements off it.)

Here it is completed. I planted some volunteer marigolds that I dug up from elsewhere in the yard into the four pots around the hobbit garden.

I also made a fairy garden. We have three hanging wire baskets, so I made a fairy garden in one of them. I plan to do the same with the other two baskets.
Here's the fairy house. Polymer clay on the base of a small pimento jar. Again, I sprayed it with acrylic sealer.

Here it is in the little garden (again, planted with stonecrop, thyme and lobelia:

Here are a couple of views of the west side of the front yard. The bed in the center is globe artichokes! We planted them in the front instead of the back, because they are supposed to have really pretty flowers. The two new little plants towards the front on either side of the yard are lilacs.

This picture shows our side of the property line between us and our neighbors to the west. Pine trees, trumpet vine:

We are really having fun with the yard this year.

Date: 2016-06-22 01:16 pm (UTC)We actually have quite a few weeds in the lawn, but we don't use pesticides or try to pull them out. He just mows them down along with the grass, so they are scarcely noticeable!
