7:30AM--Woke up and got dressed to go out to breakfast. Took care of the animals, made the bed, and took our AM meds, and checked the bank to be sure our Social Security checks had been deposited. We went to Boomerang (a chain restaurant with a retro diner theme) and I had a Belgian waffle and bacon, while the DH had their Ham Country Breakfast: a huge slice of ham (he brought half of it home for lunch), an egg, grits, a biscuit and sausage gravy. It was nice, as we haven't been out to breakfast in ages. Got home around 9:30.

10:08: Got a call from one of the managers at the store asking me to come in to work. I hurriedly changed into my uniform and got ready to go, getting there about 10:25. (I only live about five minutes from where I work.) It was not a truck day, and only one other person was working in the market department. He'd been there since 5AM, and left about a half-hour after I clocked in, so I was on my own for the rest of my short shift. It was a slow day for me, but a steady one. No big rush of customers at one time, but enough that I never really had a chance to get away from the register much. Got off at a little after 2PM and did my own grocery shopping. One thing we only carry through the fall and winter is some assortments of chocolate candy. We start carrying it around Oct. and stop when the weather warms up, as they don't store well in the warehouse in the summer. Anyway, this year, for the first time they are going to have chocolate covered raisins! *grin* I got some. Also picked up two potatoes and two small steaks for supper tonight.

2:30--Got home, changed out of my work shirt, and went in to put away the groceries and grab some lunch--just a cheese sandwich and some milk, since I'm eating so late. The DH is working outside, harvesting the rest of the sweet potatoes. I collapse in my recliner and turn on YouTube (we can watch it on our TV) to veg out for a while. I watch a few comedians taking on Trump, and then switch to music vids, dozing off and on and petting the cat, who above all things would prefer that I NEVER move my lap out of that recliner.

5:15PM--Shook myself out of my stupor and went in to make supper, steak (pan-grilled), baked potatoes and salads. Had some dishes to wash up from earlier in the day, so I had to clean up the kitchen before I started cooking. (The DH is usually very good at taking care of things like that when I work, but today he was too busy outside.)

Ate supper about 6:30 and watched the news on the DVR. Then we cleaned up the kitchen again--not much besides our plates and salad bowls to deal with, and went back to the living room. The DH had paid some of our bills this AM while I was gone, and this evening he finished with the rest of them, paying them by phone or computer.
We always do this together, so I can know what's going on, and can help him to remember if we've forgotten anyone we need to pay.

Now we are relaxing and watching some TV, and will probably be going to bed fairly soon.

I'm also going to append my "five daily happy things" to this post.

1. Eating breakfast out. It's a lot of fun, and Boomerang has good food, and they play "Golden Oldies" from the 50s, 60s and early 70s.
2. Getting to see some of my customers that I rarely see when I am only working on the weekend. They all seem pleased to see me, and I enjoy talking to them, especially when they are only coming mostly one at a time. I think I only had a line twice today, and not more than three or four customers in the line. (On Sat. or Sun. it's not unusual for there to be seven or eight, and several lines through my shift.)
3. About 40 pounds of sweet potatoes as our total harvest. Many are small, but there are several that weigh between a half-pound to a pound each! They are going to be SO good this winter!
4. We got letters from Social Security explaining last week's post-adjust. Apparently they underestimated just what they owed us which is why the extra checks, and best of all--our usual payments will increase substantially as of next month.
5. Right now we are watching the most BEAUTIFUL nature documentary from the BBC: Enchanted Kingdom. It's a really gorgeous view of stunning scenery and animals, with uplifting joyous music--there are places where it reminds me of a live-action version of "The Lion King" with real animals. I HIGHLY recommend it! It just makes me so happy to just look at it--I could easily watch it over and over.

Lagniappe: A call from our son. He had lost his job in Stillwater, due to the owner (and his boss) retiring because of poor health. But he's moved back to Cushing, since he and his girlfriend have mended things between them, and has a new job here in town--at Boomerang! LOL!

We aren't quite ready for bed yet, but it won't be long, so I think I'm going to go ahead and post this anyway.

Yum, Boomerang's sounds delicious. Eating out is a rare and real treat for Shiremom and me.

Thank you for sharing your happies!
