I think I should have heeded the warning about "under a cut for political content". I mean, at the start, I was okay, but by the time I got to the end of the video, I was a stewpot full of anger and frustration and helplessness. Which is not good for me, very not good for me.

It's not just the thing about dogs and cats. It's the censorship -- technically it isn't censorship, because it is still possible to get the information, but as he said, a FoI request can take years. So it boils down to as close to censorship as it can be without actually being censorship. What the peons don't know about, the peons can't complain about (or defend themselves against).

And the FDA "food police"?! What?! Trump wants to hobble (or destroy) the FDA? What?! Is he insane? No, he's just a selfish egotist without a shred of conscience. Or a Libertarian (same diff). Destroying the FDA is a Libertarian's wet-dream. Dismantle government "interference" (that is, government regulation) and let the "market" sort it out. So what if a few people (or animals) suffer -- they deserved it, for being poor and weak and defenceless.

Thanks for posting this on the hobbling of the FDA. I wonder if we'll even get recall reports on foods for our pets now.

It's part of the efforts of the new administration to shut up various federal agencies in the hopes that they can cut their ability to inform people. Some scientist at NOAA, NASA, and the EPA had enough of a warning that they were able to get the information out to independent non-governmental sources before they were made to "shut up".

It's part of a widespread conspiracy to gag all sorts of government agencies. After all if they can't share their information they might as well be shut down.
