Finally finished!

Remember the tunic blouse I was crocheting? Well, last weekend, just under a year from the time I started it, I finished! I also finally got the pictures uploaded today, which you can see behind the cut:

The first picture shows it on my dress dummy. The sleeves look like different lengths, but they really are not. The dress dummy is homemade and the shoulders are a bit uneven.



I wore it to church on Sunday, so here it is on me! The DH took the picture for me.



The pattern showed a tie belt with it. I am not sure whether to make that or not. I think it looks all right without it. What do you think?

My only camisole is white. I believe I'll need to make one in ecru to match, and maybe some others in colors. I've thought about making a calf-length sleeveless dress to wear under it. What do y'all think?

Thanks! Thread crochet always looks intricate, but once you get going the repeat patterns become easier. Large projects are not really daunting because of difficulty, but because of the sheer amount of time they consume.

I think it's lovely, and so are you. :) It looks fine without a tie belt but would likely be fine with. And I love the idea of a sleeveless dress made to wear under it. :)

Thank you! I may go ahead and make the belt, then I can wear it or not.

I have a length of ecru 100% cotton Osnaberg, that looks kind of like linen. If I have enough of it I may use that, and do some embellishment around the bottom of the skirt.

Thanks! It will be a while before I get around to sewing--but if I have enough of my ecru Osnaberg, I am definitely going to give it a try!

Most of this mainly consisted of double crochet: v-stitches, shells, and clusters. The exception was the neckline, which had a lot of triple crochet.

If you know how to do single and double crochet, the other stitches aren't hard to learn. There are lots of good books a the libraries, and YouTube has loads of tutorials.

I wished you lived near me, too! I can do a single, double and triple stitch well enough. It's the patterns I have trouble with. I have books, but it's like reading Greek. The person who taught me was from Afghanistan, and I think there was a bit of a language barrier. She showed me, I copied, and we were both happy, lol. I think I may try the Youtube, though, because I would really love to learn some patterns.

Every pattern stitch is nothing more than a combination of the basic stitches.

For example, a "v-stitch" is nothing more than a double crochet, chain stitch, and another double crochet all done in the same space.

YouTube is great! And for some reason many crochet tutorials seem to be done in real time and not sped up a lot, the way many knitting tutorials are. So you can take your time and even make something as you actually watch the vid. And of course, if you get stuck, you can always pause and back up!

Thank you! My mother never did much in the way of handiwork or crafts, but my sister-in-law taught me to crochet when I was a newlywed, and my aunt taught me to knit when I was about 8 or 9.
