I totally missed out on January and February! But I'm back, now!
March 12, 2017
We woke up at 5AM today, since this is a work weekend for the DH. Got up, packed his lunch (prepared the evening before). Fed the cat while he took care of the dog. Made breakfast for him, but I wasn't in the mood for a cooked breakfast, and got myself some cereal instead. Losing an hour of sleep to Daylight Savings Time made me a bit more out of it than I usually am in the mornings.
6:30--saw the DH out the door and on his way to work. I work myself today, so I took a shower and got dressed, and got all of my work stuff together (apron, sweater, jacket, grocery bags, keys, socks, etc. and put it by the dining room table. It was almost 7:30 by then, and I don't have to be at work until 10AM, so I set the alarm for 9:30. I wasn't interested in the news today, so I put YouTube on the TV--one of those relaxing music things--and coaxed the cat into my lap in my recliner, and settled in for a couple of hours of napping.
9:30--the alarm went off, so I woke up and went to put up my hair and put on my shoes and socks. Let the dog out for one more time before I left. Then I just had to grab my stuff and drive to work. Clocked in, put away my jacket and bags in the supply closet, got a cup of ice water. The truck had arrived already. Since we didn't have any customers right then, I went to get some empty milk crates ready for later. (I usually need about six of them, for when I put away the meat. Any meat that doesn't have space on the shelves is put into the crates, the truck date is put in the crate, and it's put in the cold room until needed.)
In between customers, I worked on putting stuff away. About 11 they brought me the meat to check in. (This is my job on truck day, since the meat cooler is located near the registers. I can check the meat in while still keeping an eye out for, and waiting on, customers.) Today everything was in order and it didn't take me long to get it checked in. I was done by noon, which was good, as the after church crowds started coming in and we got very busy.
Things slowed down by about 12:45, so I was able to help with putting away some of the other stuff we had in. We had another rush of customers at about 1:30, and I clocked out at 2:07.
I picked up some groceries for home--a nice sirloin to split between us for supper, a couple of potatoes to bake, some milk and such. I also picked up two containers of ice cream, since we had it on sale, 2/$6 this week. We have six new flavors, so I got two of them for us to try out: Sea Salt Caramel Cashew and Chocolate Thin Mint Vanilla. It will take a while to try out the other four.
2:30--Got home, let the dog out and put away the groceries and changed out of my work clothes. Heated up some leftover spaghetti for lunch, and watched a couple of episodes of Criminal Minds while I ate, and while I knitted a little afterwards.
4:30--The DH called to say he was on the way home. Takes him about 2 hours of drive time. I did some tidying and prepped for supper; then I sat down to type these notes up. Now that I am caught up to my day, I'm going to work on the second part of my essay for Back to Middle-earth month.
6:30--The DH got home, and so I went ahead and finished up making supper, steak, baked potatoes and salad. We ate in the living room, and watched an episode of "Nashville Flipped". I was only half done with my meal, when I got a bad case of hiccups, that didn't go away when I stopped eating for a few minutes. Trying to eat anyway when that happens seldom ends well, so I regretfully put the rest of it away to have for my lunch tomorrow. We cleaned up the kitchen, and then went back to watch some more TV--the Netflix series "Longmire". I did a little knitting while we watched. About a quarter to nine we each had a small dish of the new ice cream. I will say that Sea Salt Caramel Cashew ice cream is very good.
The DH is taking his shower to get ready for bed now (10PM) and while I plan to do a little more stuff on the computer, I will be likely to go to bed pretty soon.
OK, not as soon as I thought--got caught up in writing. But it's 11:30 now, so I'm finally off to bed. Good night!
