Questions about posting here
Apr. 7th, 2017 08:03 amOK, I know that voice-posts from LJ don't import.
Now I am discovering that YouTube embeds don't seem to import either. I use a lot of those, so is there a trick to embedding here? I just use the embed option at YouTube under "share", so I did not think that was an LJ code.
I would like to post here more often, but I obviously am missing some information. Any help here?
ETA: Another question: the other day, it took about an hour to import of about two years worth of LJ posts. Last night I tried to import about two days worth, and it is still running this morning. I'm afraid to interrupt it, but if it's still running when I get home from work, I might have to.
Any suggestions?

Date: 2017-04-07 01:13 pm (UTC)I click on "share", then on "embed" and then copy the code that appears. I always add this in the HTML editor window (since for most kinds of code it's better to post them in the HTML view anyway, on LJ as well as on DW). There is another option in the rich text editor, but that doesn't seem to work, I just checked. Maybe it's a new bug or a known issue; I've never used it this way before so I don't know.
Edit: FYI you haven't added me here yet.

Date: 2017-04-07 01:24 pm (UTC)That's exactly what I did. I will have to look and see if I can figure it out. (I don't use the rich text either for the most part.)
Have to get off the computer now and go get ready. I will check voice-posting at LJ for you this weekend!

Date: 2017-04-07 10:03 pm (UTC)Baranduin, since I see you here: we're about to bring read_lotr_aloud out of the unplanned hiatus of last year and are planning our next reading. I'm also doing backups of all the old readings, and just saw that you deletd your LJ, so all your readings are lost. Do you happen to have any of them stored elsewhere?

Date: 2017-04-08 11:54 am (UTC)I'm still a little confused about some things here. Will the import continue running if I turn off my computer? I think it should but was kind of afraid I might be wrong, so my poor computer has been on for days now.
I have some communities to update too! I hope they don't take as long.

Date: 2017-04-10 07:34 am (UTC)It also doesn't matter if the import is still running or not, as long as you don't touch anything that you've set to be imported - like, don't edit your profile page until it's been imported, or your tags, or so. But you can use your DW also during the imports and write new entries. You'll need to keep in mind that currently, a huge number of imports are started all the time, because everybody and their dog suddenly does them. Servers and the systems on which the site is running do have their limits, too. It's a marvel that we didn't have any downtime so far! :D In January, when the first rush-in came after the move of LJ to Russia, DW's servers were struggling a bit - quite understandably.
