A Challenge

I enjoyed lindahoyland's challenge, so I am issuing one myself.

In the spirit of Linda's original challenge, this story should feature an animal companion of one sort or another, and include these six words:

grass
sunshine
soft
pleasant
song
water

I don't have a banner to offer, but I hope that some of you will rise to the challenge!
