It really is. I think of all the actors of that generation, Jimmy Stewart is my all time favorite. Henry Fonda, John Wayne, Clark Gable--they were all good in their various roles, but Jimmy Stewart had an amazing range, and could do both comedy and angst with equal flair. And whoever thought of pairing him with Marlene Dietrich in this one had a stroke of genius--I think "Frenchie" is my favorite of her roles.
In spite of the black and white film, the old special effects, and the occasional cliche in the script, this is one that really stands the test of time.
