Good news (I think)

After four hours on the phone with various people, my DH is on the road to getting my computer fixed. He's been so sweet about all this--letting me use his laptop, and not getting mad at me for what happened. (Actually, I'm only guessing it's my fault, I really don't know how it happened.)
Good news: Our stuff is still in there--stories, pics, etc. It's not gone! *Squee!*
Bad news: We can't access it.
News news: The recovery disk that everyone has been telling us for four days does not exist *does* in fact exist. We can't order it until tomorrow, as we have to go buy a credit card. (We only use the pre-paid sort). And it will take four to five days to arrive.
So, keeping fingers crossed!

Even data that has been deleted is still there. A friend of mine once thought that she had accidently wiped the memory of her PC for Microsoft Office including all her work files. Luckily a mutual knight in shining armour came along with a Ub stick, dubbed the "Thank God" program, and when he put this into the computer and ran the program there, for all to see, was just about every possible document she had ever deleted, ever, in the history of time.
