from the framers! You may remember a few months ago my posting about my friends who gave me a replica of Sting with Elijah Wood's autograph for no other reason than they thought I would like it. (Understatement of the year!)

Anyway, I dropped it off to be framed last month, and picked it up yesterday. Thanks to danachan I am able to show off pics of it!




I did the calligraphy for the "label" in the center, and they matted around it. I just love the job they did!

That is so so so gorgeous! An autographed Sting? You have such awesome friends!!!

Beautiful calligraphy on the card/label, and whovever decided on the colours for the frame and the background chose excellent colours to complement the blade and scabbard. The overall effect looks very authentic, like you got the whole set straight from WETA or something.

I do have awesome friends. They had received the sword in exchange for some work one of them had done for someone, and not having any place for it, and knowing what a LotR fan I am, they gave it to me! It still blows me away, every time I think about it!

And I had it framed at Michaels where I used to work, so of course the framers were friends too, and I like to think took extra good care of me!

Cool! Did someone wrap suede around the sheath? I have a replica of the same blade, but it came in a (IMHO) rather cheap & generic black 1/4 leather scabbard.

I don't think so. The suede seems to be just what the sheath is made of, and the way the hardware and decorative pieces fit, I'm sure it came that way. I never put the sword *in* the sheath, as I was afraid of marring the autograph.

What a lovely gift. And I imagine it will be quite valuable someday--like those baseballs signed by 30's stars that we see on Antiques Roadshow, hehe. But no matter, it is a treasure in itself and I am so happy for you!

It might. It's been suggested to me that I could make a tidy sum with it on e-bay as it stands...but no...It's MINE! Oops...sorry...my Stinker side slipping out...

Mine, unfortunately with a white haft simply hangs at the wall... no sheath, no glass, no calligraphy ... and of course no autograph.

Yes, signed in Sharpie. Apparently the gentleman had four of them he sneaked past security when Elijah and Sean were in N.O. for Mardi Gras, at Bacchus. He got two signed by both Sean and Elijah, and the third by Elijah, before securtiy hustled him off. The one he traded to my friend CJ for some work she did has an eensy bit of water damage near the hilt, from Katrina. That's the one they gave me, signed only by Elijah.
