Different Christmas

Well, we had a very different Christmas from any we've had before, but it was nice and peaceful and quiet and lazy...

I got "Ringers: Lord of the Fans" and the EE Fellowship soundtrack--which I wanted, but didn't expect, since Barnes & Noble hasn't reopened. But the DH bought it online (always surprises me when he does that, because he's not one to use his computer much for things like that) he also got me "Tolkien on Film: Essays on Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings"--which I've been dying to read, though he didn't know that. He just saw it on Amazon's "people who bought this bought that list" and thought I'd like it. *grin* Have I ever mentioned before that he is perfect? If not I should have.

Oh.

And I *love* "Emmett Otter's Jugband Christmas". It's very hobbity, actually. Just thought I'd say that.

I have "Tolkien on Film" and adore it so much~ i read most of the essays in there and my favorite one was the one about (surprise!) Frodo... some interesting points in there and i'll be glad to discuss with you once you've read some of it. :) :D

The "only" LotR stuff i got this year was a Sam action figure that had a stand that played his famous lines "I can't carry it for you but i can carry you!" and "throw it in the fire!" and a Two Towers painting. ;)

My faves are the two essays on fanfic (surprise! surprise!) But I am really enjoying the book and it's helped me think through some of my own gripes and squicks with the films, which I yet enjoy very much.

Oh my gosh.... I've been battering eyelashes, but nopes. My hubby doesn't want to buy it. Baby underway and such. Darlng, despite your nasty start of the autumn with Katherina, I am so glad to see you celebrating xmas together, with the dogs and the house basically in one piece. {{{warm hugs}}}

Oh, that soundtrack is awesome. The dance at the Party: in total. You can *hear* Gandalf singing "The Road Goes Ever On" and Pippin and Merry singing at the Green Dragon. It's amazing!

It's the DH's #1 favorite. I got it for him last year on DVD, and rememebered that I had loved it too. It is such a dear sweet story. Actually, very hobbity.

I so love Emmet Otter. It's really one of the best little Christmas specials ever. Paul Williams' songs on it are just beautiful.

Yes, it wasn't the Christmas we planned, but it was definitely the Christmas we needed.
