Well, I'm back on the hubby's laptop again, and probably for the foreseeable future. My tower's got to go in the shop, it looks like. *sigh* And it will all be out of our pocket, because the warranty's been out a looong time ago.

Anyway, that's the story for now. *sigh*

I think this is all Titivilus' fault!

Find out how much repairs will cost before you let them do much work - because it may end up being not too much more to buy a new system than to repair the old one.

Poor you. It's such an anoying thing when the computer goes down! I really hope they can fix things at the shop then. It's good you have your DH's laptop so you can communicate with the world to some extent at least.

(((hugs)))

Eek! I hope your comp gets fixed soon, Barbara! It sucks not having one. At least you can use Jim's laptop though.

If you can get to it, I wrote a Sam/Frodo ficlet. It felt good to get something LOTR done :P

A Candle Burns

Every year on September 29th, Samwise Gamgee lights a candle. It’s nothing special really - just a short, white candle that sits on the mantle between the portraits of old Bilbo’s mother and father. He lights it in honor of his former master.

Frodo Baggins sailed away to the Undying Lands that day on September 29th. Sam watched him sail away and stayed long after the ship disappeared into the horizon.

In Gondor, it is a custom to keep a flame burning for a master who has passed. It was at Frodo’s request that he keep the custom, but the request did not sit well with Sam. He knew Frodo has not passed away and hoped that would not happen for a very long time.

Sam keeps the custom, but only because his Mr. Frodo told him too. He lights the candle every September 29th for Frodo. Then he sits in the armchair in front of the hearth, and watches the flame flicker on the portraits above, recalling the days when his master was there.
