Yaay! I'm back!
Dec. 7th, 2006 03:24 pmI am *soooo* happy to have my computer working again!! I did something to it today, I'm not sure what, but I got this weird prompt I'd never seen before, so I took the plunge and clicked on it, and it showed me this thingy to make it go back the way it was on a previous date. I thought I remembered my husband doing that to it before, so I did. The only thing I lost was some of my more recent bookmarks. I don't know how long it will be good for me, but I am talking sweetly to it, and trying to propitiate Titivillus, so maybe it will at least keep working until the move!
Anyway, I want to thank lovely
danachan for being my go-between on the days I was unable to post! She's such an awesome Dana! ((((hugs and squishes her)))
I had lunch yesterday at Cracker Barrel with
coneygoil and her mom--it was a blast to have a mini-hobbit moot!
And then last night on the phone, Dana gave me the lovely news about the MEFAs! Apparently I got a few, several of which rather surprised me, and two which didn't, just going from the reviews I'd received. But what was loveliest of all was that almost every story by someone else that I'd nommed placed! Whoo-hoo! Am I a good judge of fic or what? *preens* I was especially proud of
danachan's getting a first for "Years After and a Sea Between" and for
elandulin (AKA Elanor) getting a first for "A Secret Gate" and Indigo Bunting for "The River"! And
bodkin_ra got a second for "On Being the Youngest" and Nerdanel got a third for "Olore Malle", and
mews1945 got an Honourable Mention for "In Frodo's Hands", while
primsong got Honourable Mentions both for her delightful Bilbo story "Nothing of Note" and her beautiful Legolas poem "The Seabird's Cry"! Of course that's not to mention all the other talented people who had wonderful fics nominated and that won as well--and also all the other grand stories that were nominated.
I had a fun time with the MEFAs this year, R&R-ing all the stories (except for mine) and it was a huge challenge--don't think I'll try it again, but at least I've done it once!
Whee!

Date: 2006-12-07 08:58 pm (UTC)We've missed having you around, although Dana has kept us informed of what's happening with you. Dana's just wonderful, isn't she!
I actually posted a really story while you were gone that you have not seen - http://www.storiesofarda.com/chapterview.asp?sid=5099&cid=20975. You can ask Dana for the details about how I came to write it.
I'm so glad you're back!

Date: 2006-12-08 05:20 am (UTC)(reminds me of dh's friend, who changed a setting on his computer, don't know how he did it, but he told the computer that he had a different kind of monitor and then his screen went black, for the computer was talking a language the monitor didn't know; and so he couldn't see what he was typing, on the screen, and couldn't see what the computer was saying back to him, and he couldn't bring up that menu to change it back... whew, glad your situation came out better than that!)
