It's morning and Dennis is still coming

Well, we got up at O'dark hundred, and got the DH packed amd off to the hospital, and I'm trying to get laundry done and a few last chores before we maybe lose the power.

Something wierd: obviously the internet is still up, but I can't connect to email or the newsgroups for some strange reason. Never had that happen before when I was still able to go online.

So if anyone's tried to email me, I haven't seen it.

I will try again later to check it, meanwhile, I'll just keep checking my flist.

marigoldg, your mom's fine, still asleep, in fact.

ETA: my email came back, as mysteriously as it disappeared.

I just had a lovely long phone conversation with Marigold about all things hobbity, and managed to completely forget the storm for a while...

Well, I can see by the way the trees are swaying in the front yard that the wind has picked *way* up. I suppose it's time to go turn on the Weather Channel and check for an update on Dennis's whereabouts.

Well, I can see by the way the trees are swaying in the front yard that the wind has picked *way* up. I suppose it's time to go turn on the Weather Channel and check for an update on Dennis's whereabouts.

Dennis has made landfall

Slightly to the east of Pensacola, near Navarre Beach, in FL. We have been having rain and high winds for the last two hours. I've been watching the treetops swaying alarmingly, but so far nothing really nasty coming our way. Looks like we've been lucky again. Which can't help but worry me when I consider that the season is barely begun. How many times will we have to do this, this year?

Anna's doing fine, been napping, after both of us had a lovely call from Marigold. It was so nice to hear her voice! And the DH called a while back, to remind me to keep all the blinds shut; he's doing all right as well.

Well, we're still getting some wind and rain, but not all that much. The DH called to say the curfew for Harrison County has been lifted, and he's on the way home. I'm so glad we got off light, yet it also feels strange, after preparing for the worst, to not have it happened...wierd, huh?

Well, we're still getting some wind and rain, but not all that much. The DH called to say the curfew for Harrison County has been lifted, and he's on the way home. I'm so glad we got off light, yet it also feels strange, after preparing for the worst, to not have it happened...wierd, huh?
