Uh, yeah.

Great big spoilery-type spoilers behind the cut...

RIP Charlie.
Bye-Bye LOST.
Note to TPTB: A promise is a promise, and don't make ones you don't intend to keep; no Charlie, I'm out of here.

That said, the DH doesn't believe he's really dead, given the way supposedly dead folks keep coming back. So if the DH is right and Charlie somehow is alive after all, I will take it back. But I don't think it likely. That was way too much of a swan song.

I have to say, Dom really did get to prove his acting chops this season. I have truly loved his cheeky determination to meet his fate on his own terms, and with humor to the end, all for the sake of those he loves. Sort of reminds me of a certain hobbit from Buckland.

The other really lovely moment, and one which I *knew* was coming somehow, was Hurley hurtling to the rescue.

As for Jack and that whole "flash-forward", ugh! I've not been a Jack-hater like some folks, but sorry, *that* was really crappy. What? Are they trying to make people think the last two seasons are going to take place *off* the Island? I don't really care. I won't be watching to see how they dig themselves out of this hole.

Too bad. This was a "jump the shark" episode for me.

I still don't think he would have let them get away with it (if actors even have that power anymore), then Charlie wouldn't be dead if Dom himself didn't want off the show.

Seeing as I'm not a regular watcher, those are just my pennies on the subject.

Dom didn't want off the show. Those asshats Damon and Carlton practically admitted they weren't creative enough to think of anything else to do with his character. They've shot themselves in the foot.

Hated it. I'm done, too.

I won't stop watching, but losing Charlie...killing the PB&J love...that's just WRONG! Here's to hoping Charlie somehow got sucked out the porthole and will show up like mid-season next season.

It'd be cool if they had the last season about the characters getting back to they're lives off the island, but strange things happen to them. I've heard from some of the actors that it'll be three seasons left instead of two, with 16 episodes each.

I thought Dom did a great job in these last two episodes and Charlie's last scenes were great ones, though I didn't care for most of the rest of the finale. I'm okay with him leaving, hope he goes on to bigger and better things. I haven't decided yet whether I'll keep watching the show.

I was SO disappointed that they made Jack the focus of last night's episode. There was a time when I liked the guy but I have always thought his flashbacks were the most boring of any of the characters, and that's the one they pick for the season finale? After he's had so many others? And he's got an ugly beard and an unoriginal storyline? Bleagh! That made me really mad and the "huh, that's kinda cool" moment of understanding it was the future in no way made up for the lameness of the whole thing.

Hurley saving the day was awesome. I was also really pleased with Jin being so brave. And it was a second or two, but I loved the hug between Rose and Sun when they found out that Bernard and Jin and Sayid were okay.

Poor Claire. :(

I'm totally with you. I hope you have gone to loads of Lost sites to tell them so!

I can't believe how arrogant and shortsighted TPTB are over this! I won't watch again! I couldn't care less what happens to Jack and Kate.

I have been a Dom fan since BEFORE LotR! Anyone else here say that? I loved him from when I first spotted him on Hetty way back when and my family used to ask why I liked that daft detective show!

I think the show hasn't just jumped the shark with this one, they've fallen arse-over-tit over the bloody thing!

PS Excuse the language, but I'm that frigging cross!!

You know, I don't think they EVER understood that the early popularity of Lost--before it even got started--was all about Dom. They always seemed to think (and it was reflected in the scripts) that it was all about Matthew Fox. I was bored with him before the first season was over.

The producers are going about how Charlie was the first character to choose to die, and that he went out a hero--but then they went and buried what should have been the climax (Charlie's death as redeemer) in the big surprise flash forward, so it didn't have anywhere near the impact that it should have had. And THEN, with Jack fussing over how they made a big mistake leaving the island, they completely negated Charlie's sacrifice--apparently it was all for nothing!

I am just so pissed; and I seemed to get more so as the day wore on!

I won't be watching to see how they dig themselves out of this hole.

I doubt I will, either. I might watch the yearly catch-up episode, but that's it.

Not just Charlie - although for me that was the clincher! I thought where they were taking the show seemed very dark and, above all, not very entertaining.

It's all very well having mysteries and conflict, but don't they realise you also need reconciliation.

I hate any character death and they were dropping like flies in the finale. All right, not too many tears for the baddies, but we don't even know whose side Nadia is on and Tom was a really good baddie!

But one of the qualities of the show for me was the constant resolution of conflicts. I loved it when Charlie and Desmond started to become friends, as well as his growing buddyness with Hurley. I even liked when Jack and Sawyer and Sayid and Kate started to work together, oh and Locke.

But now they seem intent on focussing on the conflict and mystery with no hope of resolution - all gloom and despair. Where's the bloody feel-good factor gone?

They really need some good women writers on that show! I think it's doomed.

They seem to think they can carry it with just the cliff-hanger mentality. That's all well and fine, but we also need to be entertained and for some of us that does not reside non-stop angst!

It seems that all the characters in the future are going to be angry (Locke) or without hope (Jack) or miserable (Kate).

Sorry for the rant on your lj, perhaps I should post this on my own space, I'm just so angry I can't bear to think about it - nor can I stop!! Grrrr!

I'm with you Barbara, and everyone else here who thinks this was the biggest rip-off thing they have done on this show! I also said that if they killed Charlie I would never watch Lost again and I won't. Dom is the whole reason I became interested in it in the first place. It just will not be the same without him. I was so disappointed in much of this past season. It seemed to have become the Jack - Kate - Sawyer - triangle and little else there for awhile, and then all we got was a heavy dose of the Others. I missed the interaction amongst the main cast which is what really kept me watching. The episodes became few and farther between when we caught a glimpse of Charlie or many of the other folks. I also thought the way his demise was accomplished was pretty lousy. I mean, he could have come out of that room and THEN slammed the door shut! To me, it was almost like watching him commit suicide and the scene has bothered me all day. Sigh....yup, they shot themselves in the foot with this one and I bet they've lost a lot of viewers.

I had to wait a bit longer before I could comment... I never started to watch Lost because of Domnic: I watched one and a half season in one ruse because people who know me well thought I'd love the Sawyer character. And they were right, I am a huge Sawyer fan here so I'd probably watched Lost differently. But this season I so loved Desmond as well. The whole angst thing of Desmond first keeping Charlie at bay because he knew Charlie in every flash he had was going to die... and slowly they became friends. I cried so much when Desmond had to watch hopelessly how Charlie died and passed on that last message. Three times over Charlie chose to sacrifice himself: for Clair and Aeron the most. That is such a great and powerful development in his character: from a selfless junkie to this. It's a terrific ode to this character & true development. I can understand why you all want to stop watching because Dom acted so splendidly and brought so much to the show. But this was bound to happen, ever since 'Flashes in front of your eyes' the Desmond centric ep which has parts of the future as well, you can see Charlie alive and playing. The writers have confirmed that that ep also holds bits of the future, so I am very optimistic for you guys. I hope I didn't offend anyone here...

I've been trying all year to pinpoint what was bothering me so much about this season. It took Llinos to say it for me.

"But one of the qualities of the show for me was the constant resolution of conflicts....But now they seem intent on focussing on the conflict and mystery with no hope of resolution - all gloom and despair. Where's the bloody feel-good factor gone?"

I loved Charlie for his cheekiness and his insecuritites and the fact that he kept trying to fix things, even when it was his own mistakes that caused the problems. Watching him overcome his demons and work to become the kind of person he wanted to be, well, that was what I originally hoped would happen to all the survivors. But all that hope has gotten bogged down in negativity and it all seems pretty pointless to me now. Like Shirebound, I might watch the seasonal wrap-up shows, but I won't be eatching every week anymore.

And the way they're going now, I think they'll be darn lucky to get another 3 seasons on the air.
